For my 8kg dog, I bought the medium size. The size is good (you might prefer the small size, of course) and it is very durable. We have had it for 6 months, using it a few days a week, and it hasn't suffered any damage at all. It's a great game to fill it with canned dog food and dry food in between, or any other treats, and keep your dog occupied! At first, it took him 40 minutes to figure out how to empty it completely, but now he has learned and he lifts it up high with his mouth and throws it down with force, emptying it in about twenty minutes. If it goes in the freezer, it lasts longer

I bought the medium size for my 7kg pug. Based on the weight, I should have gotten the small size, but according to the kongcompany chart for each breed, I should have gotten the medium or large size. The medium size is a bit small for a pug. For brachycephalic breeds, you should buy a size larger because they can't fit their muzzle inside.
