What makes a camera good, apart from the resolution of its lens, is the camera management software. And this particular company has one of the best management programs. I also consider its feature of x3 optical zoom to be very strong. What disappointed me was that its charging cable is a fixed proprietary charger with a power jack plug and not the classic mini USB or type C on the camera side and USB on the charger side. I cut the cable on the charger side and connected a USB plug so that I can power it from a power bank in case of a power outage.
I will not agree with some of the previous reviews. The camera is very good in all aspects.
1. 5M resolution with very clear image. During the day, the auto focus works correctly. At night, it gets a little confused if the objects are out of the range of the infrared LEDs it has. As soon as they approach, it clears up immediately. Alternatively, you can focus manually.
2. It has defined control points. You can find the points you want to frequently monitor and set them as waypoints. From the application, you tap on each point and the camera rotates and shows it on its own.
3. Its cloud storage has various levels. The 1st level is free and keeps the clips for 7 days, the rest are paid.
4. It has an rtsp feed and although it does not support the Apple ecosystem, adding it through homebridge is very easy. This allows it to work with all the sensors in the ecosystem and activate advanced automations.
5. Two-way communication with very clear sound.
6. Ability to sound an alarm through the application. I have not checked if this feature is available through the homekit yet.
And many more that I have not discovered.
The 4 stars are because its advanced services are not offered through the application but through the camera's web interface
I was cursing poor Xiaomi for the difficulty of installation and I bought the Reolink zoom. Completely wasted money. The supposed 3x zoom is only seen by the manufacturer. At least 10 seconds delay in image transmission and at least 2 steps down in quality compared to the 5-year-old Xiaomi Mijia.
The camera does not have good image quality. It is completely blurry. It has an issue with auto focus. It does not allow you to back up to the cloud, which they advertise as being free, but of course you have to pay for it. It is not even functional. It only works with an SD card. The settings are difficult and the menu is bad. I do not recommend it for any reason. It is useless.
I have it in a children's room far away from the router and it does its job just fine. A slight delay in the two-way communication, which is understandable
