I got it for my Gaming Desktop Main PC, not to stay on battery for hours but just enough to save a game or work and shut down the PC. So far there hasn't been a power outage to see how long it lasts, but through the software it has, it shows me the load and how long it will approximately last. I have a pretty powerful PC and a large 27" monitor at 240Hz, under full load it says about 2 minutes, which I find a very short time for 960w but the actual duration may differ from what the software estimates. I will update when I have a real measurement.
Then, a couple of nights ago, there was a power outage and while I had set it to be quiet - since no one can tell that the power went out, there's no need for the UPS to be as loud as a truck in reverse! - I didn't consider the noise the transformer inside makes, and while I was sleeping, the UPS made a noise that scared me! And it wasn't due to a power outage.
It also has software for mobile or browser use, BUT it's free for only 1 month, then it asks for 10€/year, which is not prohibitive but for such a service, I would like the UPS to communicate with the cloud on its own through the ethernet it has, without needing to have the PC open and the UPS program running to send it to the cloud. Of course, I can't have everything in this price range. So, for its RMS Watts and price, I think it's a fair solution.
The 1 star deduction is because it scared me as soon as it switched to battery during a possible power outage.
Edit 20/2/2024: Last week we had a long power outage. The UPS had a load of about 400w from the gaming monitor and PC which had some load. The battery life with these on was just under 5 minutes... a ridiculous time for a device that can deliver 960w. Another negative, from the day I made the initial review until last week, we happened to not have any power issues. So when the power went out and the UPS kicked in, the noise I described the first time was like a cat purring compared to the sound it made now, like a compressor!
Now I am in contact with the store where I made the purchase and with the dealership as well, as I may have received a faulty unit.
Before we condemn everything, it always happens to come across something faulty. I'm not an expert on UPSs but having 2 smaller ones from a different brand that don't make any noise at all... when you pay 200€ and it behaves like this, it's a bit disappointing!
Edit 27/2/2024: Following the previous edit, I sent it back to be checked by the dealership. Skroutz received it from me on Friday 23/2/2024 at 14:45 and they replied on Monday 26/2/2024 at 11 in the morning that they checked it, found no problem, and are returning it to me without any action! I doubt A) that it went to the dealership, there wasn't enough time for that to happen, so what was done was at the store which doesn't provide service, etc. And B) that any check was done since I also mention here that I'm not talking about beeping, and in the emails we exchanged I emphasized many times that I'm not talking about the beeping, yet today I receive this from skroutz "When the ups loses power and goes into operation, it starts making a notification sound (BEEP quite loud, this is probably what the customer means)" I won't lie, I didn't read further. It's clear that we have a communication issue.
I don't know where to start and where to end to express my frustration for the waste of time and money.
Again, I can't say if this model in general is a disaster or if I just happened to get a faulty piece, but surely the whole communication with skroutz and the overall management is a disaster.
Continued below.
Edit: 20/5/2024: I'm a bit late to update. The UPS was returned after the distributor informed me that "it's not suitable for PCs" even though the manufacturer's description clearly states that it is suitable for PCs. I never found out if it was just this specific faulty one or if the whole series is like this. For me, this purchase was the worst experience in my life so far. The communication with skroutz was tragically slow and poor, the store was unhelpful, and the distributor... what can I say?
Stay away from this brand and any brands supported by this distributor.
