Description

The new Tamron 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 Di III RXD lens covers almost everything and represents an unprecedented blend of optical performance and versatility.

All of Tamron's expertise in all-in-one zoom lenses has been used to create this lens. It has a large maximum aperture of F2.8 at 28mm, a world first for its category, and offers high-level performance from a 28mm wide-angle to a 200mm telephoto.

Despite covering a wide range of focal lengths, it is lightweight and compact. Tamron adopted an uncompromising approach to optical performance, making extensive use of special optical elements – including LD (Low Dispersion) and XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) elements – to suppress chromatic aberrations, making it possible to achieve high-quality images from edge to edge.

This innovative lens vividly captures almost every possible scene, from landscape photography to portrait shots and snapshots.

The versatile lens that does it all!

The 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 covers a wide range of focal lengths from 28mm to 200mm, enhancing the ability for different photographic expressions, from wide-angle landscape shots to close-up compositions with perspective compression in telephoto. Its compact design has created a lens with a length of 117mm that weighs just 575g, making it easy to carry anytime, anywhere.

Close-up performance that is stunning for an all-in-one zoom lens

At 28 mm, the MOD (minimum object distance) is 0.19 m with a magnification ratio of 1: 3.1, while at 200 mm the MOD is 0.8 m with a magnification ratio of 1: 3.8. Capture stunning close-up images and take advantage of the bokeh using a large F-number and enjoy unique close-up shots that were not possible with all-in-one zoom lenses until now.

Tamron offers an integrated lens system with a 67mm filter size

Combine the 28-200mm F2.8-5.6 with other members of Tamron's lens series with a 67mm filter size and cover an even wider range of scenes. The common 67mm filter size allows for efficiency in filter use: the same polarizing filters or other filters and lens caps can be shared across all models.

The package includes

  • Tamron 28-200mm f/2.8-5.6 Di III RXD Lens for Sony E
  • Tamron SP front lens cap (67mm)
  • Rear lens cap
  • Lens hood

The use of the camera is great in the city and nature. Its zoom is very satisfactory (oh, you have a crop sensor for even greater range). The only downside is that at quite a high zoom, if the camera doesn't have stabilization, you need a high shutter speed to avoid losing focus

Very good, compared to the lens kit that ruins the whole series, it is day and night. Sharp and very useful

I had it on a Sony a7r4A and now on a7rV, and despite the camera's 61mp, the lens is not just satisfactory but IMPRESSIVELY sharp for a zoom lens of such focal length. Let's not forget it's a 7.14X zoom. If you see a comparison with the Sony 24-240, it's not just better, but especially at full zoom, it obliterates it! Perhaps, as the previous commenter rightly describes, because its range is a bit limited compared to the Sony, it has this superior image quality. From 28mm to 200mm with half a turn, combined with the ABSOLUTELY satisfactory image quality, it's a pleasure to use. Many internationally renowned landscape photographers have this lens, and as someone said, it's good enough to get the job done. A favorite lens for many. It has helped me take photos that without this range and the immediacy from wide open to zoom, I simply wouldn't have. Pros: waterproof and lightweight for all this focal length. I highly recommend it!

Easily the best superzoom for FF. Brighter and sharper than the Sony 24-240mm.

Sharp in the center at all focal lengths, even wide open (including at 200mm!), the edges significantly improve with just 1 stop down compared to other similar lenses that require 2-3 stops to give a good image across the frame.
Fast AF, occasional focus hunting but very rare.
Very sturdy and high-quality construction, although not metallic (I think it's polycarbonate) and does not have focus creeping despite its long length when zooming.
Obviously shows more vignetting and distortion than an expensive lens with a smaller zoom, but not to the point where it cannot be easily and quickly corrected in post-processing (Adobe Lightroom already has a ready-made profile for this lens).
Can focus from fairly close, good for close-ups but definitely not macro (gives about 1:3).
It is indeed weather-sealed (tested in rain!).
Also performs very well in backlight, without significant flares and ghosting.

Overall, it does everything and is cost-effective, it does not significantly lag behind anywhere and is capable of producing exceptional results in all conditions.
It does not have the range of the Sony 24-240mm, but this is probably good because it avoids the major issues that Sony has at the extremes of its zoom.

    Tested on SONY A7R II

  • Excellent in everything, in all the range you easily confuse him with a fixed lens.
