Adds an HDMI port to your laptop with 4K resolution support at 30 fps, a gigabit ethernet port, three USB A 3.0 ports for data transfer up to 5Gbps, and a card reader for micro and regular SD cards plus a Type-C port for charging only. Connects to the computer via Type-C or Thunderbolt 3 port.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
The price for this specific product is extreme, especially when you consider that it is the worst adapter I have ever used, maybe just one step behind those that simply don't work. Literally, it presents every problem you can think of. Artifacts on the screen with HDMI (when you find the exact spot that doesn't disconnect with a wiggle), the ethernet only works occasionally, it heats up incredibly and doesn't make good contact. It's not even that it's the specific one I use, I have tried an exactly identical one and it had the same issues... except it didn't even occasionally play the ethernet. Get three cheaper adapters instead.
Edit: I see that the positive reviews are mainly from people who have just bought the product. Indeed, it works at first, but after 6 months the problems start. For 20-25€ this would be reasonable. For 90€ it should last forever to be justified.
I bought the product to have both USB and network port available on my Mac M1 silicon notebook.
With the ethernet connected, the problems are continuous. The network cuts off, the USB has interruptions (mouse/keyboard, etc.), making it completely useless.
I bought another much cheaper one with 1 eth + 3 USB and it works wonderfully.
Bad choice, don't get it!
Expected good construction, for those who have purchased Satechi products before. The usage I am doing is on a MacBook Pro 2022 and it works very well, without interruptions or problems. I have connected a dual USB HUB 3, 8 ports (it recognizes all the ports) and a second 27" monitor via HDMI. It raises a relative temperature but nothing drastic. Note that the HDMI port has a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz, so anyone who wants to connect something larger should look for something else. It also works excellently with iPad Pro.
The worst purchase I have ever made in my life. Besides the extreme temperatures it raises, you cannot use any port because it will disable it after 1 minute, the internet as well. Finally, the connection with the screen is also terrible because if you have the laptop in sleep mode, it takes a long time to realize that your laptop woke up. I really can't describe how bad it is.
Promising and quite expensive. In the end, you pay the 90 euros and end up with a palm-sized stove. Completely unreliable. The SD and Micro SD card slots never worked. The USB-A ports work whenever they want, while the HDMI port was extremely problematic. Unfortunately, I didn't test all the ports from the beginning, especially the USB-A ports started failing after a year, when you are already out of warranty. In 2 years, the only port that works flawlessly is the USB-C (which you already have on your computer). In short, if you want to play the joker, play the joker, and if you want to buy an adapter, buy a different one. And if it happens to break along the way, don't be surprised and realize that there is no official representation.
I bought this specific adapter twice for two different laptops (I have one for over 1.5 years). I use it on both Macbooks. It has a very high-quality and sturdy construction that matches the aesthetics of Apple products. The USB-C port on the back is only used for laptop charging. I use it daily for file backups and connecting to an external monitor. The SD and micro SD ports are also very useful, especially for a videographer who constantly needs to transfer files.
I can say that it was worth the money and it has not caused me any problems with either of the two pieces I have. I would buy it again!
First month of use and already one of our USB ports gave up on us. At least I'll warm my hands in the winter.
I have already bought it twice within two years and I am going for a third (obviously not the same). Very high temperatures to the point where you worry that the laptop will catch fire, it ejects the disks while I am editing (this on-off can cause serious damage to the hard drives), the extended screen (HDMI) turns off, which does not cooperate when a hard disk is inserted. Disappointing!
Operating system excellent, good speeds & no issues. But it generates extremely high temperatures. It's not an exaggeration when they say you can fry eggs on it! It gets really hot, too hot! I've had it for over a year and it hasn't been affected by the temperature, but I definitely don't feel comfortable knowing it can reach 50-60+ degrees.
Update:
I'm deducting one star because it has become frayed and the cable is permanently on my desk, with minimal plugging and unplugging. So the build quality is questionable. After all this, I definitely wouldn't pay almost 100€ for it.
This adapter has many ports on it and of all kinds.
Everything works correctly, with the negative being that it raises quite high temperatures.
Finally, its price seems higher to me than I would appreciate.
It presents a problem when I lock the user. I have to restart or unplug and plug back in the HDMI cable
Useful tool for MacBook
I wouldn't get it because personally it doesn't work for me HDMI is stupid to spend 95 euros on an adapter and gamble on whether the HDMI will work all the other ports work fine but it also overheats and there's also the fear of it catching fire...
Surely it is an expensive product, which however does what it says correctly unlike other similar options. I have not encountered any problems with any port (Macbook pro 2019)
99e for this thing is a tremendous overpricing... otherwise, very good... it provides everything you need in a laptop (usually a MacBook) and doesn't raise the temperature like the previous version that could fry eggs on it
I use three disks simultaneously without any problem. The issue I am facing is with the connection of the projector via HDMI. The image is momentarily lost at regular intervals. With another adapter that I have, it works perfectly without interruptions. That's why it deserves three stars!
Also, it gets quite hot.
Design-wise, it is a beautiful device and in a small size.
I have had it for about 3 weeks. It is a pretty good and high-quality product. Before this, I had struggled a lot with various cheaper ones and ended up damaging my MacBook. I use it for a MacBook Pro 13 2017. I recommend it
Perhaps one of the most useful peripherals for a MacBook. A must-buy that is worth its money. As for the read/write speed for USB, it's great!

All good... only downside is that it raises high temperatures!

It is exactly as it appears

The specific version v2 does not increase temperatures compared to v1 where you were frying an egg on top.
It is good but I don't think it's worth the money, I don't know.
Very good tool! A bit expensive but does the job perfectly.
Excellent adapter! Works perfectly +++
