Description
This work aims at a synchronic interpretive and descriptive analysis of modern Greek, which will help its users in oral and written communication. The intention of the authors is for this grammar to be used by a wide range of people - from those who have only a basic knowledge of Greek, to those who demonstrate high proficiency in written and/or oral communication. The linguistic variety described is primarily that used by native speakers of Greek, who reside in urban centers in Greece and have completed at least compulsory education. It does not attempt to present all the alternative varieties that are still in use today, nor the plethora of varieties found in Greek poetry and prose. However, various alternative forms of morphology found in literature are mentioned secondarily, as well as specific forms of Katharevousa found in various cases.
