Description

The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro lens is a high-quality macro lens for full-frame sensor cameras. The lens focuses very quickly, even in low light, and features a built-in image stabilizer (OS) to avoid blurry or unstable images.

It is compatible with autofocus systems and also offers full-time manual focus capability. It can be used for macro photography, portraits, or other photography applications that require high resolution and precision.

High-performance medium telephoto macro lens with large aperture and OS (optical stabilizer)

The SLD glass provides good control of aberrations and the internal focusing system with floating focus ensures high performance across the entire focusing range.

With the use of SIGMA's APO teleconverter, it is possible to take photos at magnification greater than 1:1. The HSM ensures quiet and high-speed AF, as well as full-time manual focus override.

This lens features a rounded 9-blade diaphragm, which creates an attractive blur in out-of-focus areas.

Large Aperture Medium Telephoto Macro Lens

This medium telephoto macro lens allows you to maintain the appropriate distance from subjects while still capturing close-up photos.

Since the working distance at the closest focusing position is 142 mm, shadows from the lens and camera will not affect the shooting, making it suitable for photographing subjects such as flowers under natural lighting conditions.

Compared to the Sigma 50mm and 70mm macro lenses, the main subjects can be identified with an absolutely smooth and blurred background.

Floating Internal Focus

This lens incorporates internal focusing that moves two lens groups separately. This minimizes aberrations that occur as the shooting distance changes and allows for consistent image performance from infinity to 1:1 magnification.

This also corrects image distortion, especially when taking close-up photos. Since focusing does not change its overall length, this lens is easy to hold and use.

High performance

The lens power arrangement delivers exceptional optical performance. The SLD glass (Special Low Dispersion glass) with a high refractive index corrects chromatic, spherical aberration, and field curvature.

It also ensures high performance at all shooting distances. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces reflections and shadows, maintaining high-contrast quality images.

Photography made easy in your hand

The integration of OS functionality offers superior stabilization.

As the stabilization effect is visible through the viewfinder, it helps with composition and precise focusing.

Rounded 9-blade diaphragm

This lens features a rounded 9-blade diaphragm, which creates an attractive blur in out-of-focus areas. This also produces smooth, rounded out-of-focus highlights when taking photos with a strong light source in the background, such as lights reflecting on the surface of the water.

Whatever I say is not enough.
The lens is a gem for me right now.
A big fan of macro, former user of the Nikkor 40mm 2.8G.
Permanently attached to the Nikon D800.

    Let's start with the negatives.
Weight, 725g, as much as I have "gotten used to" my 500mm which is over 2 kilograms, it tires me out, since I take a lot of photos with it.
The auto-focus loses focus easily when there is not enough light, resulting in it trying again from the beginning.

    Positives:
    Fantastic colors.
    Razor-sharp.
    Bright.
    Beautiful bokeh/background blur.
    Amazing macro.
    Fantastic for portraits.

The photos below have been edited in Lightroom.

    That's it and happy shopping!

In the little time I have tested it, it does exactly what it promises.
    A bit heavy but excellent.
    It works on a d750.

The lens is a worthy replacement for the equivalent and much more expensive Nikon 105mm f2.8. The sharpness is incredible, excellent for portraits, incredible bokeh, sturdy construction, large ring for manual focus. It is relatively heavy and gives you the feeling of very good build quality, which it is. The focus is almost always very accurate. Finally, I have read on the internet about the noise in its VR. Yes, it does make some noise, but it is not as tragic as some present it. After the first use, you will not be concerned about this aspect at all. I highly recommend it. The lens is for Full Frame cameras. I use it with the Nikon D7200, which is a DX format. It performs excellently!

Excellent lens! Very high sharpness and overall image quality. I tried it compared to the equivalent Nikon lens and didn't see any significant difference in image quality, except for the build quality where Nikon surpasses Sigma with almost double the price. I highly recommend it.
