I read so many positive reviews and I think I'm playing a different game.... Basically, the positives:
- The atmosphere
- The story
- The sound
Now let's move on to the negatives:
- The graphics are really bad and for me, this is the biggest problem of the game. They are not even at PS4 level, but PS3. If we want to talk about very good graphics on PS4, it's RDR, LoU, AC Odyssey, GTA. Here, even the character's movements in the game are ridiculous and clunky, really PS3. Honestly, I don't understand how there are so many positive comments about this specific aspect unless they mean the cut scenes.
- You can't skip the dialogues.
- Empty map since you rarely find things to do while you're exploring.
- The combat is boring and repetitive.
Overall, for 9.90 that I got it for, it's worth it more for the story and the atmosphere. For more than that, not at all. A thousand times AC.
Excellent game. Open world with a nice story, interesting side quests, very good combat, especially when you start unlocking the more interesting stances, and generally very good gameplay. Well-developed characters (even the opponent).
As a rule, I play without music (for extra immersion), but this one was one of the few I played with a soundtrack. It was excellent.
The only slightly negative thing perhaps (at least for those aiming for 100%): the last act could be somewhat smaller geographically. It was a huge area but with relatively few things to do, and at some point, I caught myself thinking it was time to wrap it up :)
So I decided to enjoy this famous and highly developed game obviously, for which I have only heard positive comments so far.
I am sure that what I will say below does not concern almost anyone who will buy it, but it is my sincere opinion and first experience.
So I put the game on PS4 and follow the small guide for its basic parameters. Perhaps the most important for me, the choice of language and subtitles, where of course I choose Japanese and subtitles, an option that the game calls Samurai Cinematic.
And a graphics generated "video" introduction begins, in a very aesthetically beautiful and historically accurate environment, where the main characters speak and are about to start an almost impossible battle against a great army. All good and very beautiful.
But I can't for the life of me follow the plot without being incredibly bothered by the fact that all the characters articulate clearly what they say in English!!!! With the Japanese I chose as audio, which alone interests me for a game of the samurai era in Japan, the result is from funny to simply disappointing.
It's constantly like watching a bad dubbing in an Italian horror movie from the 60s.
For me the game is useless. I'd better put the little trek to yumi.
But as I said, this problem probably doesn't interest anyone else.
In any case, I wanted to convey it.
What a great game this is, what graphics, what a story,
An incredible game that is truly like a movie, so realistic at a dirt cheap price that I got it for (9.90€)
The game is unbelievable, awesome!
I bought it by chance for 9.90 and it turned out to be the best money I ever spent. Excellent gameplay! It takes you to another era, with amazing landscapes! Try it! Better than many other games out there... Epic!
I found it at a very low price and bought it since it is a famous game. Simply amazing, I am hooked and I am going for the platinum trophy which seems easy so far. I have already played for 40 hours and I am at 30%. If I wanted to finish the story, it would have already been done. I would recommend playing it with superior speakers (home cinema, soundbar) because the music will enchant you. Personally, I have the Creative (Katana) and you can really hear the rain and thunder as if you are inside the game. The purchase was worth it.
It reminds me of something between The Witcher and Assassin's Creed, but it doesn't compare to the first one (top game).
The graphics are simply good, lacking in detail. Sound and gameplay are very good and well-crafted. The story lacks a particular plot and suspense.
On the plus side, there is a large map and many missions that offer several hours of entertainment (it took me about 80 hours of pure gaming).
In conclusion, if you like the titles I mentioned above, get it. Especially at this price, it's a great value for money.
I recommend starting it on hard difficulty because medium is relatively easy.
Guys, the game is unique. The story of the game and the protagonist is very nice, from the graphics, landscapes, and gameplay, it drove me crazy. Many different things in the gameplay that I had never seen before. Get it with your eyes closed
Without any doubt, simply epic. I hadn't bought a single player game in a long time and I wonder why I didn't get this one earlier. The game is amazing, with a nice gameplay style, movements, poses, and the storyline is quite nice with many twists and turns, making you feel like the main character. It took me 17 hours to finish the story ("The Journey of Jin"), but it has a lot of depth as it includes two additional things to engage with, the tales of Tsushima and the mythical stories. I got it on sale for 9.90 (regular price: 25) but you can also find it for 16. It has countless techniques to defeat the enemy and epic boss fights. The downside to the boss fights is that there are few, personally I would have liked to have more. It will keep you busy for quite a while and I highly recommend it. It has borrowed some gameplay and elements from Assassin's Creed, but it still remains an amazing game.
Simply wonderful. Tightly woven storyline with many twists, nice battle system, interesting missions. A samurai whose toughest battle is with his own identity and tries to find balance. The DLC Director's cut (iki island) is even better than the regular game and I recommend buying it. I, who had no connection to samurai and started it with half a heart, but wanted to give it a chance purely because of the positive reviews, enjoyed it and in the end, completed it with 87 hours and all the trophies. It is necessary to also do the side quests, don't leave them out. Epic.
In December, the basic version of the PS4 was on sale for €9.90, which is when I bought it. As soon as I put the disc in for installation on the PS5, I decided to pay an additional €20 for the PS5 upgrade. So overall, we're talking about a €30 game. Overall, it is a quality and good game that you will enjoy spending pleasant hours with. As you already know, it is closely related to the philosophy of the latest Assassin's Creed Origins and Odyssey. In terms of technical aspects, the game is flawless, the combat system is good, and the sound is equally at a very good level. The story is interesting and, to my surprise, the side character quests are equally good. It's not something super exciting, but you will have a good time. In a few words... one of the best... huge, interesting, enjoyable.
With many game options...
And a very important thing is that it has free multiplayer to download from the play store...
Anyone who doesn't like multiplayer should download it because it can also be played single player!
NORMALLY!
I also tried playing it without internet... it can be played without any problem!
I had the opportunity to play it for the first time on PS5, and obviously the Director's Cut. This game is worth every penny, undoubtedly. The work that Sucker Punch has done is indescribable. From the graphics, sound, and soundtrack, to the battles, story, and side quests, the game is an epic!
It was not a random choice for Gamers to vote for it at the Game Of The Year awards as Gamer's Voice Game Of The Year. The journey to Japan and the way the story is presented with the Mongols, as well as the mythical stories and side quests, all have their own sweet taste.
You play and at the same time entertain yourself and learn about things you may not have known about the Mongol invasion of Japan, as well as the honor that samurais held as warriors.
I highly recommend it. I wished the game never ended because it was very enjoyable. Especially the duels and combos, when used correctly in battle, give it a different experience both visually and in terms of gameplay. It's a delight.
I hope a second part is released. It is a game for those who love the theme of samurais in Japan with battles, etc., but also for those who want to choose to play as ghosts or as aggressive fighters.
5-star bite and few are!!!
The game is one of those that as you play it you say ok, I played enough let's stop... and you never stop until you hear criticism from your wife!!! And again you will say, half a minute and the minute becomes half an hour!
Well, to speak seriously though, the graphics are wonderful, the battle system, the realism of the movements, the effects, the environments, the variety of options in clothing, weapons, etc. are all amazing!
A large map with many interesting points and hidden things and places to discover.
The story is impressive, with depth, you don't get bored, it has twists and overall makes me want it to become a movie at some point.
The characters' faces are particularly distinctive and they stay with you. The choice/inspiration of the hero GIN SAKAI is awesome.
The whole experience puts you in a mood and atmosphere of the Samurai era and conveys many messages. The game is educational and in my opinion, it advertises the Samurai way of life regarding HONOR and DIGNITY and the VALUES they learned to live by.
It makes you think about many things.
Games like this elevate the level of gaming.
Finally, I have to say that it is quite long-lasting, it is worth its money and I'm not referring to the 10 euros I just spent on it as a Christmas offer! Even if I had spent more money, it would have been worth it.
As for the negatives, not to a great extent, it could have had some missions that were less "repetitive style... but these are mainly bonus missions that are still nice to play because each time you improve the way you approach them and how you deal with your opponents. In no way did this tire me, I'm just trying to find something negative to say to be fair in my critique!
Those of you who haven't gotten it yet, even those of you who don't play such games, do yourself a favor and try it. It is one of those games that will leave a mark and we will remember them forever.
The game was purchased for 10 euros. Those who haven't had the chance to play it, if they find it at this price, they should get it blindly. It's EPIC.
Personally, I really like it (I'm not a crazy gamer because I just found time to start it now).
Awesome scenery, awesome atmosphere in general. The cutscenes are just right. What do I mean? You can't skip them, but the dialogues are short, so they don't tire you. The battle system is amazing (I always engage in combat when I encounter someone). It has many missions that are different from each other, so you don't get bored. The graphics are fine compared to other games.
Overall, the game is worth it and more, especially now that its price has dropped significantly.
I should note that I'm playing the PS4 version on the PS5 and I'm completely satisfied.
Positives
1) The game is incredibly cinematic.
2) Through it, you will learn a lot about the time period in Japan and samurai in general.
3) The combat system is incredibly smart and enjoyable.
4) It looks great even on a setup with a PS4 slim and a simple 1080p monitor.
Negatives
1) The story didn't hold my interest.
2) To achieve platinum, you will find yourself doing the same missions over and over again.
3) There is no skip option for dialogues.
4) The cutscenes remind me of the PS3 era. What do I mean? Most of the time, you don't see the characters' faces while they interact, but instead, it shows the landscape behind, etc. (I hope you understand what I mean).
For the 10 euros that I spent on buying it, I would say it's a must, especially for those who enjoy Japanese culture!
It is a true masterpiece, with breathtaking landscapes, music, and story. However, it has a very long history that sometimes tires you because it has a monotonous pattern. It is definitely worth playing without any doubt.
What the AC didn't dare, Sucker Punch did. A game in Japan with samurais, I imagine the second one will also have ninjas among other things! Good, but only to a certain extent!!
If it's not the "poorest" game, it's definitely among the first. I don't think there is such an empty world in any other game. Bamboo, shrines, some flowers, the only things you can collect, and wild boars and bears, the only things you can hunt!! You traverse entire areas and there is nothing to do farming-wise. It's evident from the loading times of fast travel and in general, the game's loading times!
What does it have to do with the loading times of Valhalla....?! What "world" does one load and what does the other load!!!!
As for the sacred deer, yes, you can kill them but they don't give you anything, the most basic graphics I have encountered.
You can't craft arrows, you just get arrows when you collect the corresponding flower!!
Regarding gameplay, how is it possible for resolve (determination/adrenaline) to be the same as replenishing blood!!! You enter a battle and hold on to resolve in case you don't dodge well to have blood to replenish! Who came up with this smart idea?! In Odyssey, as well as in many other games, one thing is one thing and another is another.....We're talking about geniuses at Sucker Punch here!!!
As for the dodge, it's just terrible. You dodge and find yourself several meters away from the enemy and by the time you attack, they are already waiting for you. I didn't expect a dodge like in Bloodborne, but at least they could have copied the one from AC!
You load the charms onto the sword and not onto the armor. Okay, we're in Japan and the sword is all you need, see Rurouni Kenshin, Shogun Assassin, etc., movies about samurais, so why did they give us armor when I've seen little difference despite the description each armor has?! To give players something to do.....
As for the combat.....you change stances all the time. You lose so much time and all the beauty of sword combat by constantly changing stances depending on the enemy that attacks you!!!
You can't craft, there is poor farming, no customization in the armors, no customization in the two bows, the sword is lacking, the game world is almost empty, the NPCs are copy-paste, the story is indifferent and geared towards the political correctness of the era, and I didn't expect to write this but indeed, in 2022 there are games with terrible graphics!!!
The game as a concept is awesome, the execution is tragic.
After years of finally getting my long-awaited PS4 in my hands, this game came along with it. Whatever I say will be too little for Ghost of Tsushima. Should I start talking about the cutscenes? The combat? The cinematics? The storyline? Or maybe the stunning graphics that gave me hours of endless gameplay. I fell in love with this game from the first minutes I played it. It's worth every euro you will spend to get it
The best game of the previous generation with various features.
Incredibly underrated, as if it had been released as GOTY against The Last of Us, we would still have dramas and tears from Naughty fans.
Just play it.
Serious story, huge world, stunning graphics, epic soundtracks, incredible combat system with immense depth and 4 different styles.
I recommend using Japanese voice overs and Greek or English subtitles.
Very beautiful game.
It puts you in the culture of the Samurai and their way of thinking.
Unique and addictive battle system.
The landscapes are stunning, I haven't used the horse at all as I believe it will "lose" the beauty of the game.
Dynamic weather change.
Finally, the Ps4 still hasn't paid off..
A big YES.
Invest without fear.
Guys, for a purchase at 10€ on Black Friday, it was a real steal, of course, and it's worth more! We're talking about a real masterpiece! I thought I wouldn't find a game similar to The Witcher to captivate me, but Ghost of Tsushima came to prove me wrong! I liked it even more, I must say. Perfect graphics, incredible music, and cinematic duels. Some side quests are the same, but you get different rewards. You become incredibly attached to the character of "the ghost" Jin Sakai. Give it time and it will more than compensate you!
Beautiful game. Especially on a good TV and on the PS5, it was a delight to watch.
Now, onto the most important aspects of the game:
The story is very interesting, with historical references, realism, and good combat.
On the very negative side, from a certain point onwards, the game becomes painfully repetitive. All missions follow the same pattern, everything feels the same logically. To the point where you might consider abandoning all side quests and other missions just to rush through the story because I can't handle doing THE SAME thing 30 times.
As bad as it may sound, the game is a beautiful mediocrity.
Some write and compare it to the assanssis. No kids, no relation. The game is incredible. A category above the assansis. The missions, the music, the gameplay, incredible. Just everyone should really get it.
Amazing game, one of the best I have played. Chilling story, incredible gameplay, and music. Superior to any Assassins Creed. Although I would have liked it to have a little more duration
