The machine is value for money for simple use but also professional without special requirements. Generally, whoever wants a simple vhf/uhf transceiver with few watts, this one is possibly the best choice and this is proven by its wide circulation among people who do not have a license to use such communication means. Also, the headset included in the package is surprisingly small for my ear and I don't have elf ears.

  Good transceiver, disadvantage is that it doesn't work with other antennas. You can't connect an external antenna, it blocks the receiver. I put a telescopic antenna but still didn't get results compared to its own rubber one. It is a portable transceiver as such. The modulation is a bit low.. But you can fix it if you know how and it gains about 10% improvement.

  At the price it is sold, it may be the ultimate value for money transceiver for a variety of tasks. It is not the best transceiver out there, but at its cost, it doesn't make sense to ask for more. It is very durable without having any particular certification for it, its power is real resulting in very good range (in UHF I have spoken very clearly at a distance of over 7km with mild interference), the sound quality is surprisingly good, its battery is more than enough, and the ability to listen simultaneously (or rather "almost simultaneously," but this is something that the average user will not perceive) to two channels is very useful.

  Where does such a transceiver fall short? In many ways, but the point is that the average user (whether we're talking about a hunter, a security personnel, etc.) in 99% of cases will not need them. For example, its programming is not the easiest in the world (but the programming cable is very cheap and supported by CHIRP, the largest open-source transceiver programming software), its antenna is not one of the best designed in terms of durability (but it can be easily replaced with countless compatible ones), its LED backlight is somewhat indifferent (but we're talking about a transceiver, not a flashlight), you cannot change the programming on the side buttons (so, for example, you cannot make one of them function as a PTT button for the secondary channel), etc. Occasionally, its software may behave strangely (e.g., a channel may be unprogrammed or lose some subtones, etc.), but I have a slight reservation that these behaviors may be due to incorrect user manipulation in the (not very user-friendly) menu, rather than software malfunction.

  I also own a Wouxhoun KG-UV8D, purchased at five times the price and used for several years. Between the two, the Wouxhoun is not worth the price difference for me.

  In conclusion: I wouldn't have it as the exclusive choice if I had to rely on it for my life, but for all other common uses, I can't think of a more decent and economical choice at the moment. Also, let's not forget that it is a Chinese-made product with Chinese quality control, which means there is a somewhat higher chance (compared to other brands) of encountering a piece that has some issue (for example, in a purchase of 20 units, one was found to have a malfunctioning speaker). However, the behavior of the store will play a catalytic role in such cases...
