WARNING! I messed up with this model! It DOES NOT work when plugged in! Which means that when its batteries run out, it's over! While the Philishave hq3380 that I have had for decades, even though its batteries have been depleted for years, you simply plug it in and shave, and it even has a long cord that doesn't restrict you. I thought that all electric shavers work when you plug them in, as the pt860/16 that I gave as a gift to my father, but also the one I recently gave as a gift to my son (an s1231), which is even cheaper and even with a discharged battery, as soon as you connect it to the power, you can shave without waiting for it to charge. The s3233 DOES NOT have a cleaning brush or maintenance oil, and it is also much more expensive! I regret spending my money on it! Stay away!
Without leaving any stubble to shave, it does its job very well. Personally, with one charge, I can definitely shave 3 times. It is also very quiet. It sounds very relaxed in its operation, to the point that at first, you don't believe it will shave well. However, that's not the case. It doesn't have any attachment for cleaning. Personally, I haven't needed it as it cleans very easily and without any tool, just by gently tapping with my hand to let the hairs fall out from inside.
Compared to the Silvercrest electric razor that I used for about 2 years, this one is far superior. The shaving is really close, like with a razor blade I would say. It can be used with or without foam, the closeness of the shave is the same, but I have the impression that with foam the shaving is faster. Overall, it doesn't clog at all, it is very easy to clean without needing to remove the heads like with the Silvercrest one. It doesn't require many repetitions, so the shaving is very quick. It cannot be used while charging, but I don't find it negative because in 5-10 minutes of charging, you can easily get a couple of shaves. In the 4-5 shaves I have done so far, the battery level has not dropped at all. Another positive aspect is the 3-year warranty.
As for the negatives, I would mention the charger, which seems to be poorly made, so I assume it will require more attention.
Either I'm doing something wrong or I don't know what the other users like about it.
In 7 days of use, it pulls hard. You feel it like a razor vacuum, sucking and cutting the hairs. If you apply more pressure, your skin gets irritated. Less pressure doesn't even catch the hairs. I had to use a manual razor and then finish with the 3 heads.
I have been using Philips shavers for the past 15 years. I used to own the hq88, which was the best shaver for me, although it was very expensive for its time. Unfortunately, I had to part with it because of the lack of genuine spare parts. None of the new shavers, not even the expensive top-of-the-line ones, have the power of the old ones. And between us, no shaver with blades shaves "in one go"!!! Depending on the skin and the hair growth, you usually have to persist and make several repetitions with any shaver you use!!!! I received a Philips 1000 series shaver as a gift with fuel from a chain of gas stations, and it did its job just fine, with the necessary repetitions, as I mentioned before. Unfortunately, it was not waterproof, nor did it have a battery indicator (what did you expect, it was a gift!). So, satisfied with the result of the gift shaver, I ended up with the 3000 series. It has basic battery status indication, it is waterproof for direct rinsing in the sink, it is very good for both dry and wet shaving, and one of its very positive features is the presence of an integrated trimmer for sideburns, etc. So, if you are looking for a decent shaver that has the completely necessary features for me without spending a fortune, this particular shaver is the best choice!
It broke over time and started leaking water. You have to struggle to shave with it, very poor choice for someone to buy. I made a mistake, I will buy a different brand.
It broke down over time. I opened it and saw that the motor was rusty. I went to 2 repair shops and they told me that Phillips doesn't have spare parts for repair for this model.
So as a second experience with a machine compared to the Braun one I had, it gives a very good shave but the only disadvantage, I don't know if it has to do with skin type, it irritated me slightly, probably from the pressure I applied, but other than that I am satisfied
Very good construction.
It provides a close shave like a razor, with 2 passes.
The battery lasts for 1 week with daily shaving.
The attachment blade for the sideburns doesn't shave at all, I don't use it. But with a little care, you can easily shave the sideburns with the regular blades.
The old PHILIPS razors that I had, one 20 years old and one 10 years old, have nothing to do with the power, and the same goes for the one my father has, which costs 200€. By the way, this specific one, when used with foam, is very easy to use and shaves my beard in three to four days, against the grain, as if using a classic razor. Very quickly and pleasantly, without any irritation, at least for me. In dry shaving, all razors require repetitions and are a bit slower. As my third PHILISHAVE experience, it is very good.
Five stars for the build quality and the extended warranty offered by Philips, making it three years. I cannot express an opinion on durability and all the rest as I have had it for a minimal amount of time.
Although I hadn't shaved in 15 years, the irritations were minimal to nonexistent. The downside is that it gets clogged, maybe because I shave every week and not every day.
Although I don't have much experience with electric razors, I was amazed by this one. It's definitely not like shaving against the grain, but the result is impressive and fast
After 2 years, mine didn't turn out well. It started to clog and didn't have the necessary power, resulting in it sticking to my face and causing pain. Maybe mine had the problem because in the other comments I read positive experiences. I threw it away...
