I bought it 5 years ago for my golden retriever, it hasn't suffered anything at all, it's like new and sleeps in it every day. Of course, it's not one of those dogs that take their bed and walk around the house with it or bite it. The fabric is indeed waterproof, and it can be washed separately from the pillow in the washing machine. Any fur is easily removed with the adhesive.
