"The truth, no matter how ugly it is, always seems special and beautiful in the eyes of the one who seeks it".
Roger Ackroyd was a man who knew many things. He knew that the woman he loved had poisoned her first husband. He knew that someone was blackmailing her - and now he also knew that she had ended her life with an overdose of barbiturates. A letter that arrived with the evening mail would soon reveal to him who the mysterious blackmailer was.
But Roger Ackroyd would never find out. Before he could finish reading the letter, he was dead - stabbed in the neck in his office.
In King's Abbot, the village where all this happens, Hercule Poirot had retired incognito to rest. However, the murder of Roger Ackroyd will force him to take action once again...

Finally, I found books that are enjoyable to read and, of course, to my liking. As a big fan of the TV series with the same name, I decided to get the book as a trial, and I couldn't put it down in the end.
Disgusted by the vulgarity, arrogance, poor vocabulary, and misguided writing style that I encountered in many books I had tried to read, even from well-known, award-winning authors, I ended up here and I'm glad that the series has many books for me to read.
Finally, something I liked compared to an older book I had read is that in the first 2-3 pages, it has all the main names of the story, so every time you wonder who this person is again, you can refer back to the beginning and understand.
Readable for sure, not Agatha's best, but definitely worth my time. It puts you in the process of thinking, guessing, and trying to solve the murder yourself.
A wonderful novel that keeps your interest unchanged until the end is, if not the most beautiful, one of the most beautiful by the author, so I highly recommend it
I have read almost all of Hercule Poirot's books. In my opinion, it's the best! Anyone who hasn't read other Agatha Christie books should not start with this one, but leave it for second or third. The ending is so logical yet surprising that you really say, "Damn you Agatha, you fooled me again."
I don't need to say anything about Agatha Christie, she is known to everyone for her talent and versatility. And of course, I have read almost all of her books for decades. However, I couldn't resist this particular series from Psichogiou, so I will dwell on it for a while. Good editing, beautiful overall presentation, eye-catching covers, and a fresh perspective on translation and writing. It's truly worth it.
Very well-written book, without boring you at any point. It was so interesting that I read it in 3 days. Very surprising ending, yet completely logical! This particular book has been hailed by many as one of Agatha Christie's best books.
One of Agatha Christie's best. If you are a fan of detective literature, it is a must
