The Garmin Forerunner 945 is suitable for running and triathlon with color maps and music storage capability.
It is mainly aimed at amateur and professional athletes who are looking for an advanced GPS watch for multiple activities and desire the best possible user experience. It is also suitable for runners, cyclists, swimmers, triathletes, skiers, etc.
Maximise performance
Forerunner 945 monitors your performance and offers personalized insights, so you can train smarter, not harder. The watch monitors oxygen consumption and adjusts the value based on heat and altitude. The training status indicator evaluates your recent exercise history and performance indicators to let you know if you're training productively. See how your workouts affect your endurance, speed and strength development. The recovery time calculator helps you maximize your results by calculating when you'll be ready for your next workout.
Maps in your hand
Whether you're running on the road or on special wooded trails, the watch supports mapping that keeps you on track. A colour map is pre-installed on the watch, making at-a-glance navigation and positioning possible. It still has the Trendline service, which uses data from thousands of watches and routes to help you find the best one for you.
Music
Sync music streaming services like Spotify, Deezer and more to easily store and play your favourite songs on your wrist or simply download up to 1000 songs to your watch.
Stay in touch and safe
With the Forerunner 945 you can go out for a workout without being out of contact. Once the watch is connected to your mobile phone, you'll be able to receive text messages and notifications. Also, as soon as you give a command or if it detects an accident, the watch can send your location to contacts you have chosen.
Watch more than ever before
For such a lightweight watch, you'd be surprised how much the Forerunner 945 can track. It has satellite reception (GPS, GLONASS and Galileo) to track even in places where GPS is insufficient. It has a wrist oscilloscope and oxygen sensor to monitor blood oxygen consumption and supports advanced sleep tracking and altitude adjustment.
Training scheduling
Create your own training plan or download a ready-made one that syncs directly to the watch. Forerunner 945 also supports Garmin Coach custom training programs. These plans include coach guidance and free training programs that are customized to you and your goals. It's an unmistakable way to get to the finish line. As part of your training plan, it can even help you predict your race time.
An easier way to make payments.
The Forerunner 945 supports Garmin Pay, which lets you make transactions with your watch.

Generally, the watch is very good, and I agree with the previous reviews regarding the measurements and functions.
BUT: Garmin has significantly reduced the build quality. I had the 630, purchased in 2016, and after almost 7 years of use, it has not had the slightest issue!
In contrast, the 945, from the moment I took it out of the box, had a strange feeling in two of its five buttons. It's like they make a first "click," which doesn't give any signal, and you have to continue pressing it all the way until it makes a second "click," and then it works normally. These buttons don't require any particular pressure to be pressed, it's just their poor feel.
I took it to Garmin's service, and they told me that this cannot be fixed. Specifically, the technician himself came and showed me his own watch that he was wearing, the 955 (the next model), and it has the same issue with some of its buttons.
In the following days, discussing it with colleagues, I saw that another owner of the 955 has the same issue.
I was hoping that in the latest model, they would have fixed the problem, but what I understand is that there is probably a decrease in build quality. It's a shame because otherwise, Garmin watches are wonderful! And also, it's a shame because we're talking about watches that cost from €400 to €600.
I have the forerunner 945 since 11/2019, it does everything very reliably in measurements, battery life, connectivity, lightweight and the only problem it gave me in 2.5 years is the charging pins that have lost some of their color, the two out of the four, resulting in sometimes not charging the watch directly. I fixed it by purchasing a cover that fits on the charging point three months ago and now it has no problem with charging. It's worth its money 100%
After about two years, I can only express positive thoughts about this watch. I never take it off my wrist during this whole time. Tremendous guidance. It helped me a lot to surpass my limits. Being able to track my physical condition and improve my personal records in both marathon and half marathon distances with the guidance of Garmin coach.
2 years with the 945, it is my first Garmin after 20 years with Suunto and Polar. First of all, we are talking about a watch that can record almost everything in terms of sports activities. It is also very lightweight on the wrist and you can comfortably wear it without feeling tired. Let's talk about measurements, which are very important. First, before operating the watch, you need to understand what the manufacturer is telling you and read the instructions. The sensors in any watch do not have measurement accuracy, it is impossible to achieve this, only in a laboratory environment can it be done in tests. So what we want is an approximation to the real data, and we have that and more. However, the correct settings and updates should always be done according to the conditions. The sensors work perfectly and the GPS is accurate as long as you do the correct calibrations. The battery, after 2 years, is still as good as the first day, and its connectivity is excellent without many problems. Any bugs have been promptly resolved by Garmin through updates. We are looking forward to seeing the new model!
Since I bought it, it hasn't shown a single route correctly!! Especially in long distances in swimming, it always loses signal and even though it counts the kilometers, the time stops or goes backwards! Not to mention the synchronization that takes almost 10 minutes to synchronize... I really expected much more from such a watch...! The previous model 735 was more reliable... such a shame!
The most comprehensive sports watch. I preferred it over the fenix because its weight is suitable for sports. The fenix, with its double weight, is more suitable for someone who wants a presentable watch for everyday use.
In the past, I had the Fitbit Blaze, MyKronoz Zetime, UP, UP2.
With the appropriate face, you don't even need to press a button to see all the data that interests you at any time.
Its battery life is excellent. It lasts about 5-10 days, depending on usage. For me, with 45 minutes of outdoor activity per week (including GPS and heart rate monitor) and VOx only during my sleep, it lasts about 9 days. Of course, I don't use music, so I don't connect it to headphones. In everyday life, on days when I do indoor activity or nothing at all, it consumes about 10% of the battery per day.
It is highly customizable. It gives you options for many functions that you need to discover gradually. It took me 2-3 days to figure out how to work with it and a lot of searching through the faces. In the month that I have had it, I see that there is still a lot to discover.
The accuracy of the heart rate monitor is not exceptional, but with the use of a chest strap during exercise, it is very accurate. Without the strap, it is good to have the strap tighter by 2 holes than your normal fit to maintain continuous contact.
Honestly, I didn't believe that something I would buy would make me write a comment about it. The watch is amazing and meets all the requirements that one could have. It's worth every penny and more. One just needs to be able to afford it.
Owner of this watch for almost a year now, regarding measurements, accuracy, etc. in running and swimming at least, which I use it for, and in combination with the excellent Garmin mobile application, it is flawless and rightfully considered top in this category. Very easy to use, although I sometimes miss the touch screen of the amazfit stratos that I used before. The battery is truly endless. I wear it on a daily basis and truly forget to charge it. Aesthetically, I really like it because it is not too big and it is also very lightweight, which means it is very comfortable. Although in the past I said I would never wear a smartwatch except for workouts, I wear this one everywhere and I really like it. Of course, I consider its price to be quite high, but you definitely get what you pay for. The only negative aspect is perhaps the screen, which is not as clear. Finally, regarding Garmin Pay, it is true that it only supports Alpha Bank, but I have never tried it
I have it for about a year and I wear it every day. For workouts, it is one of the best, it really doesn't lack anything. It does everything someone would need and even more. It's probably the best for triathlon. Its battery is fantastic, it won't let you down even in races of many kilometers, you can have it recording for over 10 hours. It is super lightweight so it doesn't tire you. If you wear it as a smartwatch, it has all the notifications and it also displays Greek. The only negative thing I have found is that the quality of its buttons is not the best possible, after a few months, not all the buttons make the initial click but of course, they still work fine.
Excellent watch, it continues the good tradition of the 935.
It easily syncs with the mobile (although Huawei has issues with Garmin), easily uploads activities via WiFi, charges quickly, finds satellites quickly, connects quickly with HR/Cadence sensors, etc.
Positive:
It is very lightweight (excessively so for me), it weighs 47 grams.
It is very beautiful in terms of appearance.
It has many applications.
It has great durability in terms of battery life during training.
It transfers data to the phone very quickly.
It is resistant to impacts and falls.
Its buttons are made of a lightweight material (I don't know which) and they don't move at all, I mean they are very stable.
It wears a chipset that measures GPS signal per second (very important) !!!.
The company used a SONY battery for the first time with the goal of minimizing GPS usage (It also wears this on the PHOENIX 6) !!!.
Negative:
It is very expensive.
Its battery lasts about 10 to 12 days, I have reached that... not 15 !!! without any training with several open applications. With 4 workouts per week, 1 with 1:30 hours of running, it lasts about 10 days, maybe even 8.
Mine has frozen during training, unfortunately, and the dealership did not help at all !!!. The dealership kept the old one !!!.
It is very lightweight.
It is quite good, but quite expensive. Accuracy in settings like almost all Garmin devices. Very good statistical analysis. Its battery, with 5 activities per week and not all modules active, does not last 6 days, which is a negative aspect. It would be a best buy if it were at least 150 euros cheaper. Also, someone should understand that they are paying for the additional data that appears in the software. Something that could be done with a cheaper watch and paid access to Strava.
Accurate measurements, improved sensors. The screen is not considered good. Garmin Pay works with Alpha Bank and international cards. One solution is Revolut.
Owner for a few days of this particular watch and former owner of Fenix 3 (older) and an Apple Watch Series 2 (latest).
The watch is currently, in my opinion, the top sports watch on the market. Although it falls slightly behind in appearance being plastic compared to the Fenix 5, it is clearly better and more improved even compared to the Fenix 5X Plus, and that's because the latest Garmin watch has introduced additional features!
As for the appearance, even though it is plastic, it gives you the feeling of a very sturdy and elegant watch. This results in having a beautiful and lightweight watch!
It has everything even the most demanding athlete needs. Its measurements are numerous and most accurate.
Being torn between this and the Fenix 5 Plus, I do not regret a minute that I chose this one! Choose it even if you find it at the same price as the above-mentioned watch!
