This book is a reissue, with many corrections, of the so-called "Great" or "State" Modern Greek Grammar (OESV edition, 1941), which was compiled by a committee chaired and proposed by Manolis Triantafyllidis, and its members K. Karthaios (Kleandros Lakonas), Thrasyvoulos Stavrou, Achilleas Tzartzanos, Vasilios Favi and Nikolaos Andriotis. It is the most comprehensive and authoritative grammar of the Demotic language to date, a milestone in the study of the modern Greek language and in the history of modern Greek education and the struggling Demotic movement. In the reprint, the general format of the book remained the same, while the few differences and deviations from the new grammar of the OEDB taught in schools and generally applicable to public services are noted in the appendix.
