It has a good bokeh effect due to the aperture size, what bothered me is that it takes "quite a while" to focus while at the same time it makes "noise" (always compared to other lenses of the kind). In general, it takes good photos but I believe the lens itself lacks in quality.
One of the best lenses at a very good value for money price. For anyone who really wants to practice with a prime lens and without zoom in order to understand how a lens works, it is a "must". I regret not buying it much earlier since the d3500 I own came with the kit that had the 18-55mm F3.5-5.6G lens which gives you many possibilities but especially in night shots I was missing a lot.
Perhaps the best DX prime lens from Nikon! I had it on a D3500 and took several photos, it helps that it has a wide aperture (1.8g) for night shots, it is small and lightweight. I really regret selling it.
It has a little chromatic aberration but overall very good.
Okay, I'm not an expert but I will also declare myself a fan of this cheap lens.
I use it often, it has given me solutions, especially in low light conditions, as it allows me to shoot at a faster speed with two or three clicks. I rarely use it at f1.8 because I achieve better results with an aperture of more than 2 and I deal with its mediocre autofocus.
Perhaps the most honest lens of the company in relation to its price, of course.
I highly recommend it without reservation
Excellent lens with incredible sharpness and detail! I attached it to my 7200 and the result was amazing. It's a great gift from Nikon at this price. The autofocus makes a little noise when the lens doesn't focus well, but it's not bothersome. The build quality is decent. It's worth every penny they ask for. However, it's difficult to take the lens off the camera. It really shines.
I had an issue with the focusing (and still do). Maybe I am doing something wrong, who knows.
As for the positives, the speed, brightness, and good depth of field of the lens (due to its aperture of 1.8)
Contrary to what the majority states, I am not satisfied with the sharpness and focus of the lens.
Excellent lens for its price. I have used it for various types of photography and it does an incredible job.
I give it 5 stars, but what bothers me is that it makes quite a noise when it autofocuses, so if you want to shoot videos, you will need to use manual focus. The lens's bokeh is amazing for its price and it delivers fantastic results in terms of sharpness. Ideal for portraits, excellent for landscapes and other types of photos.
Quite a good lens and value for money. You can achieve nice effects with the low aperture and create professional-level images. The only negative is the slow auto focus compared to others, as well as the slight focal loss (accepted with the purchase).
For an amateur, the lens is a must-have, at that price. If you speak with professionals in the field, they will tell you the same thing, "a very good everyday use lens."
I use the lens for amateur use, but I have been extremely satisfied. The price is okay for what you get.
Yes, my little ones, it is as described by the previous ones before me. But... it is not a cure-all. And it is not for every moment. The photo is not just "wait for me to frame it". Sometimes you want to zoom and click. Sometimes you want to fit the whole family at the table (three bananas). That's when you will appreciate the lens kit.
I am an amateur and this lens is the best for the money to escape from the kit lens (I bought it for around 150). I am amazed by the results, it works wonders. I recommend it to amateurs and non-amateurs, it is essential for a photographer!
Very good lens for its price. Perfect for amateur use. Incredible bokeh, very good sharpness and vibrant colors. I also used it for astrophotography because of its large aperture. Better results than variable lenses. Plus, it is very lightweight, small, and highly portable. The only negative is that I would like a better feel on the zoom ring. I highly recommend it for a prime lens, 100%!!
If you know how to handle it, you will love and enjoy this lens. It is much superior at night compared to the kit lens, and I emphasize this because during the day, most lenses produce good photos.
I have had it for a year now. Very "bright"/fast lens, ideal if you photograph moving targets (e.g. children). It has replaced my Nikon kit lens (18-55) as the standard lens. In everyday use, the zoom has not disappointed me, but I also have a zoom lens in my carrying bag for any case (practically, I have used it very few times). Its weight/size is also an advantage as it doesn't tire you. Also, due to its small size, it doesn't "intrude", I mean sometimes you take out the camera to take a photo of someone who feels a little uncomfortable with the big lens in front of them. This is not a problem with lenses like this.
I don't think there is anyone who has a Nikon DX body and doesn't have this lens! I have had it for about 2 months and I still can't realize how amazing job you can do with so little money! It's worth every penny, guys! Congratulations to Nikon!
It is a perfect lens for its price. The results I saw were exactly what I needed and I highly recommend it!
I bought it for 136€... I still cry... it is excellent... And it is so cheap that one doesn't need to think about it... A bright flashlight... Bright in every way.
An excellent lens for the money in relation to what it offers. Very high quality and sharp up to 1.8. My first contact was difficult, but it becomes familiar over time. A challenging lens for someone starting out with a fixed one, but the results are what will compensate for it.
It was my favorite lens. Until the autofocus mechanism broke after 4.5 years ---> €130
Go buy the lens.. it's that simple .... there's nothing better for the money .. especially if you're amateurs and just starting out, get it with your eyes closed ... unless you're a professional who makes money from it or just someone rich who doesn't care, it's better to spend less money on the body and start getting good lenses, even on the most economical camera like the Nikon D3500. When you learn your camera and your lens well, you'll do wonders even with these .. even if it's prime (no zoom) ... use your feet .... the lens is very bright, 1.8f with beautiful bokeh ... and at 4f it becomes crystal clear! 10/10
If you have a budget and are thinking of getting a prime lens with great value for money, this is the ideal one!
The lens simply doesn't exist!! As a long-time user of the lens kit, I decided to transition to the prime 35mm mainly for its low aperture, as I take photos and videos at night. Very sharp lens even at f1.8.. Its bokeh is very good as well, although with the 50mm lens the blurring is more intense, but the 50mm limits you to closed spaces, etc. On a dx camera, the 35mm is the best choice!!! I highly recommend it for around 1000, it's a must-have lens in a photographer's bag!!! I'm also including a video for anyone who wants to see what the lens can do at night

Gentlemen, whoever has a crop mount Nikon must buy this lens, incredibly sharp even at 1.8, it is the most cinematic. In my opinion, anyone with a budget up to €300 should not think about it, just take it. Also, don't worry about the mm, it is capable of perfect use in landscape, food photography, portrait, and if you go through the editing process with a preset or luts in Lightroom or Photoshop, the result will leave you speechless.
