Description

The Silverstone Krypton KR01 is a compact CPU cooler for AMD. Despite being only 54 millimeters tall, two copper heat pipes ensure excellent thermal conductivity. Thanks to the 80-millimeter PWM fan, it cools processors with a TDP of up to 95 watts.

The compact low-profile Silverstone SST-KR01 Krypton cooler impresses with its small dimensions and high cooling performance. Two powerful 6 mm diameter copper heat pipes run through the cooling block made of aluminum fins.

Due to its compact external dimensions, the SST-KR01 is ideal for small HTPCs and small cases with limited space. Even with the factory-installed fan, the cooler does not protrude more than 5.4 cm.

The fan features PWM control and operates in a range from 800 to 3000 revolutions per minute, producing 58.3 m³/h of air with a maximum noise level of 33 dBA.

I got it for Ryzen 5600 for a case with poor airflow due to space constraints. It didn't perform so well. I would say it performed slightly worse than the stock Wraith Stealth. The problem I identify is that this specific cooler has no thermal capacity at all. It is a thin layer of aluminum that touches the processor, 2 copper pipes that draw heat, and fins that the fan hits and cools the system. It doesn't have a metal block somewhere to temporarily store the heat until the fan has a chance to draw it. If the fan doesn't have time to draw it due to poor airflow like in my case, the cooler falls behind. Long story short, although it says 95Watt TDP, realistically calculate up to a max of 65Watt. That's why I only give it 2 stars. It barely kept the Ryzen 5600 and worked at temperatures from 60-90 in admittedly poor case conditions from ambient temperatures, while the Ryzen 3200G, with a fan change to 3pin - 4,000 rpm, kept it easily below 55 degrees even in prolonged Furmark use. The positive thing about this cooler is that changing the fan is very easy, so you can upgrade it by buying a high performance 80mm fan 4,000+ rpm like the Arctic P8 Max Case Fan 80mm (5,000 rpm). So you gain in space, which is indeed very low profile, but you lose in noise. Personally, I gave it to a friend with a Ryzen 3200G where it works fine, and now I am trying the Wraith Spire for the Ryzen 5600.
