Powerline is one of the best investments you can make, especially this specific model. Before I got it, I had problems with the wifi in the room, such as disconnections and low speed. This solved all of that, plus you don't need to drill holes in the wall to pass a cable, as it works through the power lines. It will save you a lot of trouble!
I got it just because the Repeater I had (TP-LINK) had a weak signal whenever someone passed by in front of it (narrow hallway), so I wanted something more stable.
I was impressed by how easy and fast the Devolo connection was.
As for the speed loss, with the TP-LINK repeater I could reach the router's 100Mbps (fiber optic), but as I mentioned, the signal would abruptly cut off whenever someone passed by in front of it.
On the other hand, the Devolo reaches about 50Mbps, meaning a 50% loss in download speed. The difference is not noticeable for the way I use it, but for someone who wants the maximum, it is important information.
With a 100mbps line, my losses are around 8-10 mbps.
Perfect, no disconnections after a simple tp-link router and 75% losses.
High-quality construction, easy installation.
I have the double kit, and I reach speeds of 80-92MBps Max, either with cable or WiFi.
After upgrading to 300MBps, I didn't see higher speeds, so I called devolo company and they told me that it can't go beyond 100MBps.
It does its job, but for the 150 euros I paid for it, I consider it to be a lot of money for only 100MBps max. For me, don't buy it.
The small piece (without the WiFi module) goes next to the router. I have the large one (where I want WiFi) in the storage room and it reaches 85+ from the 100-line. I could only be satisfied. It hasn't disconnected for a week. I will come back if anything changes. However, I think that (like in many things) because you get what you pay for, you buy it once and you're done with worries.
It doesn't connect to anything after a power outage I had. It got stuck or broke. The dealership doesn't answer the phone or respond to requests. The excuses from Skroutz are classic. And I just found out it went out of warranty 5 days ago. Tragic.
Unfortunately, my own experience is not good. I have placed the magic wifi (the one that goes into the room you want, not next to the router) in my room, at a distance of 10-12 meters from the router which is in the living room, without any interference, and the connection is not good. I changed its position and put it in another room or in the hallway and it works fine, but the loss is significant. On 100 lines, it reaches the wired connection at 40-45. But regardless, it turned out to be "useless" for me as it does not connect in the area where I want it. It should be noted that there is no issue with the wiring of the house. Unfortunately, it does not meet the high standards it has set and for no reason is it worth its high price (purchased for 125).
Whether you like it or not, you get what you pay for. I had many issues with disconnections and interruptions and decided to buy it. It is an expensive product, but it compensates with its functionality. I have had it for 3 months. It requires a little attention to customization, there are instructions and you will connect normally. It has not disconnected since the first time. I recommend it to those who have similar problems.
Excellent product! Very easy to set up initially (and only) configuration. I use it to access my WiFi in the garage, three floors below my apartment where I have the router. No signal interruptions here for months of use!
Owner for 1 month. You need to find the appropriate sockets in order to achieve maximum speed. It was plugged into the same socket as the A/C. In the two rooms where it was installed, I get around 91-94 Mbps via WiFi on Vodafone's 100 Mbps VDSL, and a clean 100 Mbps via Ethernet! When I turned on the A/C yesterday due to the cold, the speed dropped to 60 Mbps. When I turned it off and unplugged it and then plugged it back into the socket, it returned to normal speeds. I will update.
Update 22/4/2021
Stable WiFi at around 95-96 Mbps, with a clean 100 Mbps via Ethernet, the fact remains that if there is a device (e.g. A/C, electric blanket) operating in the socket, there is a decrease in speed by 40 to 60%, and then it recovers!
I have installed the second device at the other end of the house from the Cosmote speedport entry 2i router in the same phase on three-phase power, although the company insists that it does not matter due to the filters that the device has. It is very easy to install. First, you connect and activate the device to the router and then the other one.
I have had it for over a month, it has never crashed or disconnected until today. On a VDSL 50 line, I was getting 30 Mbps WiFi with the router next to the computer, while with the devolo, I get 45-48 Mbps WiFi. The same goes for LAN.
Its price is quite expensive.
As for the negatives, since it is only WiFi, one device cannot create its own mesh network. You need to spend an additional 30-40 euros.
Update:
I am coming back 3 months after the previous evaluation and a total of four months since the purchase of the product to confirm the stable high speed and that there has been no disconnection with daily use.
Excellent solution. Very easy to install, just follow the (simple) instructions in the guide that comes in the box.
I connected one powerline to the socket where my VDSL router is and the other to a socket about 10 meters away in a straight line.
The result is impressive.
I get 50 Mbps on fast.com, just as much as when I connect it with a cable to the router. Also, I have no packet loss either via LAN or WiFi and transmission packets between 23 and 40 ms.
In simpler terms, I have zero loss in internet speed and no disconnections so far, either via cable or wireless connection to the internet.
I have had it for about a week, so it is still early to have a complete picture, but so far it has impressed me.
Final verdict: So far, I consider it worth its money as it does what it advertises to do, and if your house has good electrical installation, then it is a reliable solution.
Unbelievable range, unbelievable speed, excellent build quality, very good value for money. I believe it is worth it after having a tp-link that constantly disconnected and never had good signal quality. Suddenly, I switched to this one and it's amazing. Buy it, it's worth its money. Easy to install, you don't need to do much even though the instructions are in a foreign language, you won't need them
Excellent!!! Before this, I had a pair of TP-Link. Coincidentally, it worked from floor to floor. But when I changed the socket on the second machine, the internet became a thing of the past. After a lot of struggle and endless troubleshooting, and after trying a thousand different ways with no result, I sought a solution through a friend who is an electrician, who simply told me that it's not the specific brand's fault, but rather the fact that all PowerLine devices, in order to work on three-phase power (like I have in my house), must be placed in sockets that are on the same phase. This in itself creates a serious problem, as in a three-story building with a roof terrace, you can't be searching for which sockets are on the same phase. But even if you find them, it's not certain that a specific position will be functionally suitable. Searching on the internet for the correlation between three-phase power and PowerLine, I read about the Devolo Magic 2 Wi-Fi, that it is the only device that can work on three-phase power without any problems whatsoever. I bought it with some reservation (a month ago). The result is unbelievable! In no time, it scans all the phases and works everywhere! And not just works... It's stable, fast, without any obstacles, and without any trace of malfunction. I also paired its Wi-Fi with that of the router, and from the street to the roof terrace, the Wi-Fi has a signal of 5 out of 5 everywhere. And since it works like this on three-phase power (which is a particularly difficult power structure for Powerline), imagine how it will work on a simple line. For these reasons, I highly recommend it!!! The device is truly EXCELLENT!
