Really reliable. I transferred/reinstalled about 1.4 TB from 3 drives (all the games that were scattered around - Steam, Epic, Origin). And after finding space, I also did some installations like Conan Exiles. All on the same day and continuously. What impressed me, besides the speed, is its temperature. It didn't go above 43 degrees with all the above.
And now it doesn't go above 40 degrees anymore. It's definitely worth the purchase.
(The drives (mechanical) are also a lottery. If you get good ones from the beginning, you won't have a problem. Under normal conditions. And from any company)
edited 09/02/2020: After about 8 months, it hasn't had a single problem. Really reliable. The highest temperature it reached was 45 degrees in August while playing Fortnite (Seriously, why does Fortnite still destroy my drive, I haven't understood it yet). I will update my review again over time. I'm thinking of getting another one.
edited 2: 15/09/2023. About a year ago (07/2022) I noticed that the health dropped to 76% (I have HD Sentinel) due to 2 bad sectors. I didn't despair but I got anxious about where to put all the data it has - having to redownload the games... I bought another identical drive for transfers and to avoid future issues. After transferring all the files, I decided to format it. And the health returned to 100% (the bad sectors are shown in SMART). The space has decreased as much as the space occupied by the 2 sectors, which have been excluded from the drive after the format. It has been running smoothly for a year now (both of them), and I have expanded my Steam library, so everything is good.
Just a piece of advice to everyone: Regularly check either with tools or in the Event Viewer. All errors are displayed there, for any hardware.
Purchase made two years ago for bulk storage of W10 (mostly games, occasional use). Six months after the purchase, it started losing files but could be fixed with SeaTools application or chdsk /f /r or even formatting. Usually lasted for 1-2 months and then started again from scratch. It had not reached over 60% capacity while the problems started much earlier. It finally gave up the ghost last month.
Okay, for a 40GB drive that I bought, it was worth the money, it has been working flawlessly for 2 years. During the full check before installation, it did not show any bad sectors. It is indeed difficult to find a cheap and quality HDD these days, however, the packaging in which I received it was very problematic (just an anti-static bag). In general, prefer retailers who take care of the packaging for drives during transport as they are one of the few things that can cause you problems.
I leave a review just because of some comments I read. I have had it for 7.5 years with daily use without any problems. 100% health is shown by HD Sentinel. In terms of speed, it is the fastest HDD I have ever had, and I have had many.
Not the fastest, but stable. It has a few bad sectors, and relatively soon I would say, but it remains stable and does not cause further problems. Value for money!!
I have owned the disk for less than two years and it has shown bad sectors. The usage I made of it was very small, the space I used from its total size never reached 50%. I would not recommend it and I would look directly at Western Digital.
Owner for about 1-1.5 years, quite satisfactory for an HDD, considering the price and capacity of 45€/2TB, I highly recommend it. I recommend it more for a secondary hard drive, for the main one, I suggest buying an SSD M.2.
Good but in 2023 you can find SSDs with similar price and much faster speeds. I do not recommend putting it in a high-end gaming rig because it is slow, especially in the latest games
Everything is nice and beautiful, except for the annoying noise (tick-tock) it makes every 20 seconds. Especially at night when it's quieter, it's not easily tolerated. I spoke directly with a representative from Seagate, and the construction is designed this way, there is no technical problem. It simply rests the heads for (supposedly) longer lifespan. If you use it for downloading, for example, torrents, it will work almost continuously, so the noise won't be heard as often.
If you want a disk to last for more than two years, then go somewhere else. I have the same one in 1TB and after two years of use, the disk started clicking and the head was damaged. This resulted in lost sectors and after a while, the disk stopped responding altogether. 1TB of files lost. And it's okay, they were just games that I can download again, but what if you have photos and videos? Long story short, I started using a 2TB one and the same thing happened without extended use since I have Windows installed on an m2. So, a total of 3TB of lost files.
Conclusion: It's not reliable, forget about it after two years.
The 3rd disc I bought plays on 3 different machines. I bought the first one 3 years ago and it still plays like the first day, simply amazing. That's why I got 2 more for my kids' PCs.
The worst thing that has ever happened to me! Completely unreliable... I've had it for exactly 2 years.. and suddenly, without any warning, after restarting our PC, it left us without access to important files... I blame myself for not having backed up for a year... but regardless, it's not worth it at all. I always monitor my disks... HD Sentinel showed it every day at 100% performance and health, it hadn't given any indication and then it just stopped and wasn't recognized in disk management or in the BIOS... UNBELIEVABLE!!! Make sure to frequently back up with this disk... don't leave it without backups of your important files for too long..!!
2 stars from me and that's only because while it was working, it was fast and quiet but that's about it.
I have had it for 5 years. I have played games, loaded videos and photos, and generally "abused" it. Recently, it has started making sounds when loading, a sign that it needs replacement. I believe that as a general use disk, it will leave the user satisfied.
I have it running for about 1000 hours, in a machine with 3 additional mechanical drives (2 WD and one Toshiba). It's the only one that makes any noise! Sometimes it even sounds louder than the CPU cooler when doing intense read/writes. It also runs usually 4-5 degrees hotter than the corresponding 2TB WD drives. Nevertheless, I am completely satisfied with its speed - it delivers exactly what it promises.
Just before the warranty expired two years ago, it started clicking. I will send it back and update if I had any issues. Seagate drives are completely unreliable. I also had a portable external USB that I only used 5 times for backup and it crashed!!!!! I didn't even have it plugged in!!!!! Stay away from Seagate drives.
It didn't work for even one day, I received it defective, the service said their own things, that supposedly I am responsible for the damage and that they do not cover the replacement.. So stay away from this particular product.
I have had one for a year now and it's good, although sometimes it doesn't reach high speeds, but it's okay. I also got a second one which never worked because it arrived broken, but it was immediately replaced with a new one without any cost. Thank you and I hope it was just a random incident.
Seagate is truly one of the worst hard drive companies, most of the drives that have failed on me have been Seagate. I have a collection of them, even the last one I had for backup, a 1TB, died after only being used once every 6 months in a dock station, it died after reaching 500-something gigs.
We used it in a video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/I7mO0xfIT1w
It is faster than older 7200rpm HDDs, although this is due to the cache memory it has, and its speed decreases in repeated read-write operations, as is the case with all hard drives, especially HDDs. However, it is quiet and loads all our files quickly, and games load relatively quickly without any problems whatsoever.
The packaging could be better, as it comes in a sealed anti-static bag which, of course, does not protect it from shocks...
As for its reliability, we cannot say anything yet. If it presents any issues, we will update.
After two years of occasional use only for games, the hard drive died suddenly... it wasn't recognized in the bios, but luckily I didn't lose all my files with an application. However, not all games work, some crash like FIFA 21... it's very noisy and overheats excessively with short use.
I got a third hard drive, it makes a little noise but it doesn't bother me that much. I don't know about its lifespan yet, I will come back in a year. So far, 5 stars.
For games, at least in my case, it doesn't crash. I don't know why, for example, Formula 20 runs normally when I installed it on my SSD. It's good for storing files, etc.
I sent an update to the store where I bought it from. They sent it to America and after 4 months they brought me a new one, but it had a problem. The new one that came again is still crashing.
Guys, the price is very good. The hard drive doesn't exist, I've had it for 2 years. It's bulletproof. After 1 year, I got a second one. And now I'm getting the third one. Excellent.
This hard drive works according to the CrystalDiskInfo program for 2,140 hours. Every night, I shut down my desktop computer to give it a rest, even though I have Windows 10 Pro. While it's possible to keep it on all the time, I don't recommend it for any user. Machines need rest, just like humans.
It's a very reliable and fast disk, thanks to its 256 MB cache memory. I highly doubt that Western Digital (WD) has ever produced a faster mechanical hard drive.
I use it as a backup second disk, with my primary disk being a Seagate that has been working like a dog for over 22,300 hours. I trust Seagate as a manufacturer, ever since I was a teenager with my first computer running Windows 98 and 6 GB of storage.
It's hard to find more reliable mechanical hard drives than those from Seagate. And no, I'm not their advertiser. I'm just a satisfied, old 37-year-old user.
I also have a good online friend from Poland who always buys Seagate, just like me. He's also very satisfied with the brand.
The price of this particular hard drive is very reasonable for the superior quality it offers to consumers.
Finally, the design of the front label is beautiful, better than the bland designs of Western Digital.
In conclusion, I highly recommend purchasing this hard drive from every aspect. It's simply amazing. Enjoy it!
Pros:
• Superior reliability over time
• High operating speed
• Beautiful label design
• Reasonable price
Cons:
None. It's an excellent product.

Purchased about 1 year ago as a Second Storage option for Games, videos, movies, etc.
It has never had a problem and for a hard drive, it is excellent with 5 times the speed of the 500GB one I have had for five years and has started to show signs of wear.
If you encounter problems, check BIOS settings and replace the SATA cable with a new and reliable one (you can't imagine how many problems a faulty cable can cause, even with a new drive).
No complaints so far, as the requirements are few... just to work properly and at the speed advertised (give or take, as it will vary from PC to PC).
At the price hard drives are sold for now and with such huge capacities, it is logical for someone to still have a hard drive even in this age of SSDs.
To help those looking for something fast and cheap (games/software), I would like to discourage them with this specific review from purchasing this product because it is not reasonable to expect crazy speeds from a mechanical hard drive, so I would suggest a SATA SSD instead.
For everyone else, I would say that if it has met my relatively high demands from my computer and I want it to run smoothly, I believe it will meet yours as well.
All the information about the hard drive is available online, so I see no reason to comment on such details (see benchmarks).
If on the other hand, you receive a defective product, it is not the end of the world because such things happen often (especially during mishandling by the courier), so you should always expect such a possibility and order from a reliable seller, taking advantage of your warranty, and most importantly, always keep a backup of important files.
And no, this specific drive does not have a bad reputation nor is it a problematic model.
