The protective, although not an oil, softens and detangles the hair! It has a pleasant summer scent! The hair mist creates beautiful, lightweight curls but it stiffens the hair! In my opinion, it dehydrates them as my hair is also highlighted! I would buy the protective again on its own without the hair mist!
