As an owner for about a year, I would like to say that it is a good Blu-ray player. It plays almost everything in picture quality, BUT it does not play DOLBY ATMOS and Dolby TrueHD on NETFLIX, nor movies in Dolby Atmos and Dolby TrueHD format through a hard drive. Does Sony claim to support it?
Absolutely satisfied. Ideal size. Doesn't take up much space. It's about the size of a PS3. Easy to use with immediate, fast response and with plenty of effective settings for all functions. Great advantages are the build quality, design, great file and media compatibility. Of course, the exceptional sound quality. Detailed, precise, and powerful even in 5.1 systems. The core of the most modern ones. Also, the image quality. A wide range of settings there too. Its strongest feature is the compatibility with Dolby Vision. If you manage to combine it with a Sony HDMI 18bit (high-speed) cable (it matters) and a Sony TV, you will get the best possible experience. There are no negatives. Perhaps the only thing I personally would like is an optical fiber output for sound. I highly recommend it!
I have had this specific machine for two years, it plays everything no matter what disc it is... from a simple DVD to 4k ultra bluray. It has upscale for DVD 576i, bringing it to 1080p 60fps, but also converts 1080p bluray to 2160p (of course, the TV must also support this resolution). It supports all subtitle, video, and audio file formats from an external source, both wired and wireless internet connection, instant disc recognition, even for damaged discs (copies), nice small and convenient control with a button for direct access to Netflix. In short, a purchase with closed eyes.
A very high-quality Blu-ray upscales to 4k.. I saw improvement even in my old DVDs that I thought wouldn't be visible on a 4k screen... the native 4k is incredibly beautiful with vibrant colors... it has all the updates... it functions quickly as a device and what impressed me is that Netflix has better brightness and color than the TV's app.
Perhaps the best 4K Blu-ray player on the market so far. It supports exactly what its predecessor (UBP-X800) does, such as 4K UHD Upscale, HDR10, 3D, DTS:X, Dolby Atmos, etc., with 3 disadvantages and 3 advantages as the main differences between them. The first disadvantage concerns the build quality, as the new model is made of plastic instead of the sturdy metal that the predecessor had. The second disadvantage is the absence of Hi-Res Audio, while the third is the absence of Bluetooth. As for the advantages, the plastic construction instead of metal led the UBP-X700 to a dramatic reduction in size and weight. Additionally, the UBP-X700 is available at a much lower price than its predecessor, and finally, it now supports Dolby Vision in addition to HDR10. Overall, it is an excellent player that is definitely the best value for money for all that it offers.
