Έχω δύο Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB.
Είναι εξαιρετικά καλοί, μέχρι πρόσφατα τους χρησιμοποιούσα ξεχωριστά.
Τώρα τους έχω βάλει σε RAID 0, με ρύθμιση στο UEFI (BIOS).
Η εικόνα που επισυνάπτω, δείχνουν τις επιδόσεις τους σε RAID 0 (strip size 64, stripe size 128).

I bought the SAMSUNG 860 Evo SSD 500GB 2.5'' MZ-76E500B/EU SATA3 for 65.5€ on 25/1/22 for my sony vaio VPCEB1S1E/BJ model: PCG-71211M purchased in 07/2010 with 4GB RAM and the removable 500GB Toshiba MK5055GSX - SATA - HDD2H21 F VL01 - i5 intel. Needless to mention the speed of the laptop's startup, but definitely more upgrades are coming soon.

1) Η ταχύτητα είναι όση λεει.
2) Σταθερη λειτουργία για 1 χρόνο, χωρίς το παραμικρό πρόβλημα.
3) τα 5 χρόνια εγγύησηςΟ υπολογιστής είναι ένα λαπτοπ από το 2012 ... i7-4500U / 8GB RAM με windows 10 και Linux Kubuntu 20.04. Στα windows 10 έχω απενεργοποιήσει τη γρήγορη εκκίνηση και λόγω δεύτερου λειτουργικού (Linux) αλλά και για να είμαι σίγουρος ότι ο τερματισμός γίνεται κανονικά. Η εκκίνηση κρατάει λίγα δευτερόλεπτα παραπάνω αλλά λόγω SSD δεν είναι ενοχλητικό ειδικά αν με παλιότερο υβριδικό δίσκο έκανε περίπου 1,5 λεπτό με τις ίδιες ρυθμίσεις. Επίσης στο Linux η εκκίνηση γίνεται σε ελάχιστα δευτερόλεπτα (περίπου 14, πολύ λιγότερα φυσικά από τα windows)
Πάντα κρατάμε backup γιατί ποτέ δεν ξέρεις τι μπορεί να συμβεί (ο Μέρφι ποτέ δεν ξέρεις πότε θα σου χτυπήσει την πόρτα, κι αν έχεις καεί ... ένας λόγος παραπάνω)

I have 4 860 Evo 2 500GB drives, 1 1TB drive, and 1 256GB drive. The first two are for the operating system, the third one is for games, and the fourth one is for an old laptop.
The boot time is around 10 seconds and it has a very good response with "open on startup apps" that open very quickly without freezing the system (of course, this depends on the entire system).
In games, the loading time is quite good, similar to the PS5. I hope to be able to time it at some point, but for now, they seem almost the same compared to PC and PS5. In PS4, you will see better loading times and better in-game texture loading, either at the beginning of the game or when it needs to load the immediately following textures of the map. I haven't tried it on PS3, but I have seen that it does something there too.
Now, on the old 13-year-old laptop (literally bought in 2008), I won't say "wow, it gave it life" etc., but with lubuntu, it became a media machine for Netflix and so far it doesn't freeze, and it works fine with its 17-inch screen. I had tried it with an HDD, but it had issues at startup.Overall, I have no issues with reliability, and it is quiet. It has never given me any problems. As for lifespan, I don't know, but I do relatively frequent read/writes on the 1TB drive. In terms of performance, with the appropriate SATA cable (make sure it's for SATA 3), it reaches close to the advertised speeds. However, I am generally cautious because you can't easily benchmark it when the PC is running the entire operating system, and you go and ask it to give you statistics. Therefore, I was satisfied with the results, around 350 read and 250 writes as the main drive. It is definitely value for money, and I don't think you will need NVME. If you work with conversions, Photoshop, etc., don't look here. These drives are simply "smooth transition" disks for consumers until the landscape changes and all systems start fully utilizing NVME.
*In-game texture loading refers to when the point often appears completely smooth, as if the developer forgot to add graphics, and it looks like a PS1 game. If the machine is slow, it becomes obvious, but it is more commonly observed when looking at distant areas in open-world games

I agree with what you will read elsewhere: Excellent disk! In old laptops and iMacs (2008-2009), it easily reaches 245-250 read-write. In a 2015 laptop, the measurement showed a speed of 480-520. I also noticed that compared to other SSDs, it did not present any freezing or delays on a 2010 iMac. I highly recommend it (be careful!!! choose the 860 Evo and not the 870! It is simply faster with better cache.
**** Months later: it continues to work perfectly, that's why I bought a second one for the Core 2 Duo Macbook A1278 (2008) that was slow with its El Capitan. I installed it and Magic! The machine woke up again and threw away its struggles, becoming the ultimate Netflix machine of the house. Speeds here, with repeated measurements using TechTool Pro 14.02 for Mac, are 260 Write and 285 Read. In a newer (2015 HP i5) with Windows that I initially tested, it gave values above 450-480 (since it has a more modern motherboard). Important: it is not fixed at 6Mbps - it has the ability to automatically decrease to 3Mbps, so that it can work without problems on older machines that had a speed limit of up to 3Mbps (such as Core2Duo iMacs 2006-2008).
