It was installed on an iMac 21.5 mid 2010. After about 12 months, it stopped working. When opened, it was found that a red light is lit on the power board/controller - possibly indicating that a component or integrated circuit has burned out. It had minor issues from the beginning, with occasional freezing and screen glitches (until its final... death!). The problem may not be specific to Apacer in general, but rather to specific parts that may not have undergone quality control or have been imported to Greece... it suffers in terms of the quality of parts that reach us. Note that it was NOT purchased through Skroutz, but independently from a store, so the merchant did not acknowledge the damage. I would not buy this particular product again.

This review is about the capacity: 256 GB

update 2024: the initial review referred to the model Apacer AS350 without the (X) at the end. therefore, it is related to the previous 256GB SSD of this specific series (AS350), with a different controller (it also had DRAM).

the review (2021) concerns the version with 256GB! - note, there are other versions with the same name - it may be the cheapest SATA SSD 2.5 with DRAM cache + corresponding (good) controller + TLC NAND that you can find (google it to verify with use & app translation on non-English sites).

it has been used for about 4-5 months in a 10-year-old laptop with similar behavior as a Samsung 850evo, without the constant messages from the software of the second (magician) about incompatibility with the Intel Rapid Storage driver, necessary for older generation Intel mobile CPUs (Sandy Bridge). in read performance, no difference with Samsung 850 but also with Crucial MX500 (which I also had for 1-1.5 years in another system until it stopped working inexplicably). in write performance, slightly lower than the two mentioned above, but only in benchmarks with software. in everyday use, any differences are not noticeable to the average user.

you can download software for health/bench & secure erase from the manufacturer's site (it is not very "great," but at least it is available, unlike other vendors).

therefore, it is a vfm choice SATA SSD, as there are several more expensive, DRAM-less drives in this capacity category (240-256GB), with a likelihood of declining performance regarding write performance and possibly reduced lifespan, compared to their factory prices. also, you will not see any substantial difference compared to more reputable manufacturers. regarding reliability, a six-month usage period is not sufficient, but there is plenty of software (+ from the manufacturer itself) to check disk health.

I bought it for a desktop computer with i5 4590 8GB RAM to simply have the software (Windows 10 Pro) so that it opens quickly. That was my only concern and nothing else. At 25 euros with shipping included, I think it's the cheapest you can get for something like this. The PC opens in 15-17 seconds.
But the company claims 560MB/s read, 540MB/s write. The truth is in the picture I uploaded. On the plus side, I add that it has DRAM. Final decision: if you want something more than just a quick boot for your PC, spend a bit more for Samsung.
RETURN AFTER 10 MONTHS OF USE: the performance has dropped quite a bit as you will see in the benchmark, but to be honest, I haven't noticed anything in daily use. Everything opens quickly, and the computer continues to boot in 9 seconds, ready for anything (from completely off, of course). That's all for now

Purchased 12/2018, it gave new life to a 2007 laptop. It has withstood consecutive formats due to distrohopping and still works, 2 years later. The speeds are as stated, so it is NOT fast for a SATA SSD. At the time of purchase, it was good for the money, but better ones have come out since then. I was probably lucky, judging by the experiences of others who bought this particular drive, but I am satisfied.

I installed it in 2015 as an upgrade and replacement for the HDD I had. Both crashed within a period of 2 years on a desktop computer. I requested a replacement with a different brand and to pay the difference. I am waiting to see...
