For over 20 years, Seagate's BarraCuda series has been leading in the manufacture of reliable and efficient internal HDD hard drives. A worthy representative of the "family" is the 4TB with huge capacity and SATA 3 6.0Gb/s connectivity. Its "hidden" cache is 256MB, it has a data transfer rate of 190 MB/s, RPM at 5400, and a maximum data transfer rate of 6Gbps.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
It is too early for a review (I have had it for a week) but for now, it is going well.
I bought 2 pieces, one came dead from the factory but they replaced it with a new one after a week. Both disks write at a speed of 250MB/sec, quite satisfactory speeds for the money. I will put them in my server to see how they will perform, if yes, then they will stay there and I will get more (due to the low price).
I will come back soon when I have a picture...
After 3.5 years, it showed me bad sectors and Windows didn't recognize it. After several restarts, it read it and my diagnostic showed 9% health with 6,250 hours of usage (260 days) since I bought it in December 2018. I have Toshiba, Hitachi, and Crucial drives in the system and I have never seen anything like this with 2 or 3 times more usage. And of course, it's out of warranty. Never again Seagate.
Very good disk. Reliable. I have used 2 in RAID 1. Right now I have them in an Orico external enclosure because I am working with the laptop. I have all my data on them and whenever I want I connect and disconnect them. On one I back up Windows and on the other I store data. In my opinion, better than WD in lifespan, speed, and reliability even though they are 5400rpm instead of 7200.
A disk with large capacity and slow write speeds and high patience speeds for rewrites since it is SMR. Essentially a "storage" disk where you will write many or large files that you don't need often or backups and keep it off the system. With this use and based on its price, it is good. However, it will in no way satisfy you if you write and delete files on it and of course, don't even think about using it in a server and RAID. It goes without saying that any other CMR disk of the same (or larger) capacity is a better purchase if the price difference is small.
It broke down after one year of operation, fortunately it was covered by warranty.
And while it was working, it was surprisingly slow
I bought it 2-3 days ago and just made its first transfer.
Video Footage files ~470GB and it took ~1 hour to transfer them.
The source was the WD Caviar Black 4TB.
Transfer speed 80-160MB/s.
I am attaching the screenshot.
Other than that, I still don't have a clear picture of the disk.
Time will tell.
Attention to potential buyers!
Up to 2TB, the disk has a speed of 7200 RPM.
Versions of the disk with higher capacity are at 5400 RPM.
Update: The disk is turning back as defective as I cannot copy files at all, it freezes!! (However, it is possible that I happened to get a defective model, who knows what could happen)
I have him only a few days and he fails the Seagate Tools tests with Short DST Fail.
I am expecting a response from the store.
The evaluation concerns the 8TB disk. I have been using the disk for 14 months and I am completely satisfied. I would highly recommend it.
I was looking for a disk to have files like videos, documents, music, etc. I was interested in the disk not making noise and not having vibrations. To achieve this, among other things, it needs to have as few disks as possible inside and low rotations.
The ST4000DM004 has 2 disks inside and 4 heads. Completely silent and you don't realize it's working. It loads files very quickly and data transfer is also very high.
Any HDD disk for running applications is slow nowadays, so I don't think HDDs need to have high performance in this area.
I will soon buy a second one to copy my files and put the old one in a drawer for backup.
Finally, this hard drive broke! FINALLY
I never had any problems and it's quite fast! The numbers say it all.

It suddenly crashed during the week, but it recovered and is functioning normally (from 100% on 20-11-2019 to 09-12-2019)! I will try buying Seagate Barracuda again and will provide an update.

I have two such disks and I use them for storage (movies, music, etc.) and streaming on my TV and Apple TV mainly through the Plex application.
For this specific use, they are excellent. Fast and silent.
For a primary disk (operating system and programs), I recommend an SSD and even better an M2 SSD.
I took him yesterday and within 6 hours his health dropped to 85% and it's still dropping. I will take him back and look for something better
The first one was ordered around Christmas and arrived DOA. It was returned within the month and another one arrived, same model, loaded with 4TB, and suddenly... POOF! Bad sectors after just 20 days. Utter disappointment. It is likely a bad batch, but I can't help but comment on the unreliability of the one I got...
From the best options for a hard drive. I use it as storage space and it performs perfectly.
The disk came with 200+ bad sectors. Unacceptable disk, unacceptable company. The store took it back flawlessly at their own expense and immediately credited me the amount
I bought this specific hard drive after a lot of searching. The disk is exactly what I was looking for. Very good speeds (according to tests I did with Crystal Disk Mark, it reaches its nominal speeds), large capacity, completely silent and cool.
I have had him here for 3 months and he is excellent. So far, everything is good and I have downloaded over 200 gigabytes.

So far they work perfectly, I have 2, I reserve my judgment on their durability.

so far so good

For a mechanical hard drive, it is good and quite fast
first day 25% health let's go for a second and see
Flawless disk. I have had it for 7 months.
4-5 have let me down and I had them mainly as back up. Unreliable
He didn't manage to sleep for 4 hours and his health dropped to 84%, so I took him back
He is completely unreliable
Size Cache 256 MB top gun the best of all
