With the Panasonic Lumix GH5, you will break the limitations and discover a new world full of opportunities to become creative through your photos.
20.3MP Pixel-Perfect Sensor
The impressively powerful 20.3MP Digital Live MOS sensor of the Panasonic Lumix GH5 achieves exceptional performance and delivers the highest image quality in the history of Lumix cameras. No matter what scene you want to capture, you will have guaranteed results of absolute precision, without any blurry areas or blemishes.
Stunningly beautiful photography with the Venus processor
The combination of the Digital Live MOS sensor with the Venus processor offers stunning colors, impressive details, and natural texture in everything you photograph. The Multipixel Luminance Generation and Intelligent Detail Processing technologies can perfectly capture the brightness and contrast of the scene. Additionally, the color control function will make your photos stand out, and in cases where you record videos, the high ISO sensitivity will give you atmospheric images, similar to those you see in a cinema.
Put an end to blurry photos
No matter how stable you are, it is difficult to constantly repeat the same movement without shaking the lens. Thanks to the 5-axis Dual I.S. stabilization system, your photos will be crystal clear. The Panasonic Lumix GH5 can eliminate both body and lens shake, even when capturing scenes with maximum optical zoom. It works during both photography and video recording, and is compatible with all lenses.
Smooth recording of 4K video at 60p/50p
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 takes professional photography to a whole new level thanks to its incredibly smooth 4K video at 60p/50p. With more frames, you can capture even smoother and clearer motion of objects as they pass by you quickly, while also being able to slow down the video speed without losing any detail. It is also important to note that there is no limitation on video recording, allowing you to exceed the usual 30-minute limit in any case and recording setting.
With 10-bit colors, details appear clearer than ever before
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 comes with 4K video recording support at 10-bit. Compared to cameras that support 8-bit, it can record all the color details, texture, and shades that you see with your own eyes. With over 1 billion colors and 4 times more shades than 8-bit, the recording result will be extremely professional. Also, with an upgrade that will be released in the summer of 2017, the GH5 will support recording at 400Mbps bitrate, which reaches cinematic data.
"Fast Subject Detection and Focus"
The Depth From DeFocus technology from Panasonic comes even better and upgraded in the Lumix GH5. It allows the camera to accurately calculate the focal length of the subject by combining values from 2 different photos. Combining fast autofocus and the ability to read at speeds of 480 fps, the GH5 can focus in just 0.05 seconds while allowing Burst mode at a speed of 9 frames per second.
You won't miss a single shot
Shoot in Burst mode and then choose and keep your favorite frames. The 6K Photo mode at 30fps allows you to capture the best moments of your life in high resolution 18MP. The even faster 4K Photo mode at 60fps can capture even the fastest subjects, where with conventional cameras it would be impossible.
Resistant to all conditions
The Panasonic Lumix GH5 is designed to withstand even the toughest conditions, outdoors in nature. It is resistant to low temperatures of up to -10 degrees and has great resistance to water droplets and dust. Sealed and constructed so that even the smallest dust particle does not affect its operation, the magnesium body also makes the camera particularly lightweight. With the Lumix GH5, there are no limitations, only those you define.

Awesome tool, I have it combined with the Leica 42.5 nocticron 1.2 and a zoom lens, and it produces perfect images and especially videos! Its ibis is flawless, and the ibis lock mode sets it apart from the competition. No rolling shutter, maybe due to the sensor!! Perfecttt
The Lumix of our heart! A body that never hangs me at work and still holds on, since the specs it has are countless and timeless! If you know how to work it, you can get an amazing image!
Anyone who is more interested in photos should look elsewhere, as the camera is oriented towards video. Having the D7200, one cannot reach its potential in photography.
An excellent camera for professional video:
- 2 memory cards on which you can simultaneously record 4K at 60fps.
- Plenty of customizable buttons so that you have any setting you need in a second.
- The image stabilizer is excellent and adds value to telephoto lenses without stabilization and generally to any lens you attach, even analog ones with an adapter.
- Excellent color depth with huge capabilities in editing, especially in 10-bit 4:2:2.
Weaknesses:
- Low-light capabilities are limited. Up to 1,600 ISO with noise reduction in post-processing, it performs well. Maybe even at 3,200, but above that, noise reduction softens the image significantly.
- Autofocus is quite good for static objects, but object tracking is not its strong point. Personally, I find the touchscreen very useful, where you can select where to focus during shooting, especially on a gimbal. Otherwise, manual focus is much safer.
What can we say about this machine? It would be the best machine out there if it didn't have issues with low lighting and the AF that you can't rely on, even though it has improved significantly! However, I think a professional uses AF in very specific points. If the next model improves these two things, we will be talking about the best machine in the world for its price.
I was very satisfied with the Canon 80d and had a lot of Canon equipment in lenses. As you can understand, I wanted something more for my videos and after a lot of searching, I ended up with the Gh5 after trying it out with colleagues who already had it. In terms of build quality, menu, and autofocus, it is definitely better than the equivalent Sony, with incredible capabilities and options for video, reaching up to 180 frames with the right settings.
I got the 12-35 lens from Lumix at 2.8, which, along with the camera's ISO, does not satisfy me in low light at all, but in all other aspects, the image is perfect.
The stabilizer of the Gh5, along with its lenses, is unbeatable.
I'll finish by saying that I also got the Metabone adapt for Canon lenses and the results are unbelievable. The only downside is that the autofocus quality decreases, but with the 1.2 50mm lens, you will be amazed at how it performs even at night.
After a lot of research and now over 50 hours of use, I consider it the only way to go. I hope I helped.
An excellent "video camera" with incredible build quality, and possibly the best stabilization system. It records without time limits, can record on two cards simultaneously, lacks in depth of field, and performs averagely in low-light conditions. Overall, for anyone shooting videos and not wanting to carry various stabilization accessories, it is the ideal camera.
11-7-20 After 2 years and approximately 1500 hours of work, I dare to say that there is no better camera currently in terms of image quality... Although the Sony A7S is one level above in terms of image quality...
28.9.22 I can't find a reason to switch to something else after 5000 hours of video... this camera has no expiration date... It works from -10 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees with scorching heat... I have tried all the cameras out there, the image produced by Lumix cannot be compared to any other... If you are interested in image and stabilization, blindly go for LUMIX... If you are interested in autofocus and ISO, only Sony...
The machine is simply a diamond specifically for capturing video in combination with the specially made for this machine, Leica DG Vario - Elmarit 12-60 F2.8-4 lens.
Having come from a Nikon 5100, I can't even comment as it is an incredible camera. For now, it seems like an unbelievable camera with amazing stabilization, incredible 4K image, and many functions that make your life much easier.
When I have used it for a while, I will come back with the pros and cons.
Very good camera for video, with many capabilities. It lacks in bokeh and high ISO compared to a full-frame DSLR, but it compensates in image clarity and ease of use during shooting. The stabilization system is really good. However, it has several bugs that could be fixed with a firmware update. The menu, compared to Canon's menu, is a headache.
It does what it promises...
the battery takes 4 hours to charge
And it's a bit heavy
But otherwise... a dream!!
Fantastic focus with incredible ease and speed
Incredible slow motion..
For anyone who wants to make professional videos and has the money... go for it.
Otherwise, because it's quite expensive, I recommend something more economical..
