This particular machine is my first experience with this type of classic razors. I can say it's good. I want to emphasize, after trying the Muhle R41, that what they say about mild and aggressive razors is not true. That is, open/aggressive razors are not only for experienced users and closed/mild razors are not only for beginners. If someone has a tough beard and shaves 3 to 4 times a week, they need an open razor, if someone has a soft beard and shaves every day, they need a closed razor. Personally, I have a soft beard and if I shave with the R41 more often, it irritates my skin. However, this is not absolute, that anyone with a soft beard who shaves frequently with an open razor will have irritations. Between the two categories and razors, I choose the R41 and open razors, as it provides a close shave without having to go over the same areas multiple times. All razors are safe, so there is no reason to fear cuts, etc., no matter which one you shave with. Moreover, even with a closed razor, you can cut yourself if you don't pay attention and rush. For me, these razors are much better than commercial cartridge razors, as they offer a better shave and are more economical in terms of blade replacements. Let's not forget that you buy the machine once and then just change the blades. For me, it's worth buying such a machine.

First of all, let me clarify that this is my first D.E. razor and I have been using it for almost two months now. Up until now, I was using the usual plastic multi-blade "razors" like Gillette fusion.

From the moment you hold the R89 in your hands, you realize its exceptional build quality. The finish is truly impeccable and the assembly of the parts (handle, head) is perfect, without the slightest play. Also, the plating is excellent and gives the impression that it will last forever.

Now, as for the performance, it gives very good results on facial hair up to three days. I have also used it on a week's worth of facial hair, but it took at least three passes and caused irritation. Of course, this varies from person to person, as everyone has different skin and facial hair. I, who have dense but not very coarse facial hair and fairly sensitive skin, concluded that it is good for shaving every three days. For longer intervals, it will do the job, but not perfectly.

Finally, it is quite protective and it is difficult to cut oneself with it. However, it always requires attention. It is not comparable to the plastic razors I mentioned at the beginning.

*Tip for beginners, like myself: It doesn't require any pressure at all. Pressure makes absolutely no difference in the closeness of the shave with such razors. The whole trick is to always maintain the correct angle. Once one learns this and gets used to it, they will be rewarded for their effort. This happens after 3-5 shaves, so don't be discouraged at the beginning.

**For shaving once a week or even less frequently, I also purchased a head (without the handle) R41 that fits the handle of the R89.
