It looks sturdy. It fit a lot of things, but due to the geometry, moving from a toolbox-case to the one that is more compact with greater height, I needed >15% more volume than my old one. I don't know if it will withstand over the years, but for now, it looks solid. The latches are very tight, so they provide durability until they loosen, and the hinge that is stated as metallic is actually plastic with a metallic core. In other words, it all depends on how long the plastic lasts, considering everything is as strong as the weakest link. If one by one "link" of the hinge starts to break due to impacts, it's our fault, if they soften from use and give in, then it's their fault.
The handle is very comfortable, as well as the movable shelf it has, which provides access to the central space and space for bulky tools (e.g. hammers, angles).
It has exactly the same closures, hinges, and handle as the much larger Stanley 1-95-617, which I have had for years and has proven to be very durable. And if the larger one held up well, this one, with the same features/quality, for a much smaller volume and weight, will likely prove to be even more durable.
As soon as I took it out of the box, I realized how sturdy it is, but also how beautiful (which is not so important for a toolbox, but still a fact). It is perfectly square and because it has thin (metal) walls, it has a very large available interior space.
Although I bought it for another purpose, as soon as I received it, I thought of trying if it can fit some rechargeable tools that I have, and I was surprised by its spaciousness! And for this, the thin walls and the square interior are responsible. However, for such use, a sponge or foam will be needed on the bottom, because it is very thin and does not provide any protection at all from possible falls.
A disadvantage, perhaps for some, is the lack of compartments for small items in the lid. It doesn't bother me because these small compartments are usually very "fake" and break and open without wanting to, filling your entire car with screws, bolts, and all the small items you had there. I prefer a separate organizer for this job.
I have had it for a little over a year. Very beautiful and gives the feeling of quality construction. The metal "clips" would fall out of place when opening, when it was new, but the problem was easily solved with a little pressure on the internal springs that hold them onto the toolbox.
