"On the front line of the war, inside a tent, he recorded his thoughts, gave himself advice, and encouraged himself with the power of philosophy. His goal was to remain consistent with the ideas he embraced in his youth, to endure hardships, not to be swept away by the torrent of events and end up as an ordinary man of power, but to remain what he was: a philosopher-emperor.
He did not intend to publish them. He wrote to stay strong. He did not believe in posthumous fame. He did not even believe that anyone would remember him. But he was proven wrong. Eighteen centuries have passed since then, and the "Meditations" still live on. They have seen countless editions, loved and praised by numerous authors as an inexhaustible source of wisdom. As the "eternal gospel," as Renan described them."

Gospel Book. Good rendering of the translation. Good quality paper, I would perhaps prefer it to be hardcover for such a masterpiece (however, I knew what I was buying). I recommend it to everyone who wants to explore their deeper self, their existential horizon, and their encouragement to face life from a different perspective.
I will not focus on the fact that he was a strong man of his time, nor that he was a philhellene. The essence of his philosophy was the opposite of vanity and greed. His bonus is that he used the power he had correctly and was one of the five good Roman emperors. He established orphanages and hospitals. Above all, he was a philanthropist, and Stoic philosophy is an antidote, especially in today's world.
Very good book, easy to read, worth someone's time to read it, gives you a new perspective on how to handle situations in life.
A book that you will need to read and reread and underline almost the entire book for all the reasons you will discover when reading this particular book.
It is a book that you definitely need to read more than once in order to understand it better, and it is worth the effort
I have no words for this masterpiece. It was not meant to be published, it is simply the thoughts in the notebook of one of the most powerful people in history (and one of the wisest). GET IT. Study it as many times as possible, always have it on your nightstand. Utilize the wisdom within it and you will be able to pursue and keep whatever you desire. 5 stars are not enough.
Amazing book that teaches a proper way of life without going into many details. After all, it was the memoirs of one of the greatest Roman philhellenic emperors. If someone wants to start with ancient Greek philosophy, they should start with "Meditations".
