Description
The night the archbishop died, Sissy gave birth. She had three puppies that looked like well-fed little mice. Vincent had been thinking about her for days. He was waiting. The hazelnuts in his cassock pocket had run out. He wandered around the monastery, a solitary servant, and she, swollen, ran after him, panting heavily, devoted to accompanying his steps in the kitchen, the courtyard, the now wild gardens, and the terrace with the crosses.
Vincent, a solitary monk, mourns for his tragically lost little dog, at the same time as the people and the official Church mourn the Blessed Archbishop.
Subsequently, as the heads of the Church engage in sacred and profane succession processes, he struggles to keep at least one of the three newborn successors of the dead little dog alive.
An intensely symbolic novella that balances between personal and collective mourning, personal and collective hope. From the surprise author of the novel "One and a Half Tin Cans".
