"The Wild Duck" is the tragedy and proof of petit bourgeois deceit. Ibsen's heroes here are crushed due to their raw honesty, which is due to the lack of moral principles and the replacement of these principles by dubious illusions. The theme of the work is the seemingly simple life of a family that willingly blinds itself in order not to admit the immoral conventions that govern it according to Protestant data.
