  I have been using Clinique's cleansing gel for over 20 years daily. It is effective as it cleanses the skin of the face from its daily 'pollution' from the environment, it opens up the pores on the face (after use, you feel like the air in the environment is colder!) and leaves the skin with a matte texture.   I have been using this product for 7 months now. Whether I used it once a day or three times, I didn't see any difference in reducing the oiliness of my skin. In terms of cleansing, I suppose it does a similar job to other products in the category.

  This review is about a variation of the product

  This product simply DOES NOT EXIST.
  The only positive things I have to mention from using it are:
  - It cleared up pimples that had appeared due to dryness.
  - I used it during the extra hot period of summer and my skin did not produce a DROP of oiliness.
  - It DOES NOT HAVE A SCENT. I was amazed when I found out that there are cleansing products from big brands without fragrance, and it attracted me more to Clinique. (For anyone wondering why it is considered positive for facial products to not have a scent, it is because these fragrances are usually artificial and derived from petroleum, and they can cause skin conditions).
  - Tremendously effective in cleansing. No trace of dirt on my skin (confirmed with toning lotion).
  - It does dry out the skin a little, but from a product that fights/controls facial oils, I didn't expect anything different. Additionally, it doesn't dry it out to the point where it prevents the skin from absorbing moisturizer. So, you don't feel the moisturizer sliding off onto something else other than your skin, nor do you need to apply more moisturizer than necessary to overcome the tightness you would have with another cleansing product (let's all look at La Roche-Posay, which is recommended for acne).
  I have combination skin (oily forehead) and I will definitely repurchase it
