If I want to take 10 nice photos, I will use the Canon 17-85 that I have, and it takes nicer photos. I got it for an upgrade and I don't regret it, although it's very expensive for what it offers.

    Excellent lens.
Currently, I have it on my 800D.
Very good color reproduction and good sharpness.
At 18mm, some prime or other lenses may be better, which is logical.
However, its sharpness does not decrease significantly at 135mm.
Fast and silent focusing with Nano USM, and a feeling that you have a quality lens.

P.S: Having tried other lenses, I can say that this lens is amazing.
No other lens has given me the contrast and color reproduction it has.
Even its sharpness, which I read comments about from others, is very good.

Having in my possession the Canon eos 800D and the kit lens 18-55 is stm, the 50mm 1.8, the 24mm 2.8, and this lens, I consider the crop package to be complete.

I believe that after purchases, tests, and many photos, it is worth buying a body without a lens and purchasing a 50mm for low light shots, and the 18-135mm lens as well.

The lens in question is truly silent, with excellent autofocus and sharpness throughout its range.

It is almost permanently attached to my camera.

    I highly recommend its purchase

This lens comes as a kit, but it will satisfy every amateur with its (instant) focusing speed, especially when used on the 70D or 80D, its very good sharpness (I wonder why it is said that this lens has mediocre sharpness... of course, every photo requires editing, regardless of the lens used), and its practicality. Its range is extremely convenient, and I classify it in the category of all-in-one lenses, as it will cover 95% of the needs of amateur photography for everyday use, vacations, or less demanding situations. It is not the fastest lens, of course, for use in low light conditions, but it does not disappoint for general use. Good build quality with a slightly tight zooming ring in the middle of the range, which, however, does not bother. The ability to use power zoom (with the addition of the somewhat expensive Canon accessory PZ-E1) is a plus for those interested in video shooting. If you find it on sale, it is worth adding to your photographic equipment. If you are interested in a faster lens, then the Sigma 17-50 f2.8 is probably a better choice, but with a smaller zoom range. Personally, I use it a lot and I am satisfied. It has the best price-performance ratio for an all-round lens with a lower price in terms of quality, especially compared to others like the 18-200 or 18-300, etc. It is silent, with good vibration reduction, but without a dust-proof seal, which would be an additional advantage if it had one. Not particularly heavy, it also has a zoom lock switch that is not necessary, as the zoom barrel does not extend with its weight. If you buy it as a kit with the camera, you won't waste your money. Just think before deciding to buy it, what your needs are, so that it doesn't just take up space on the shelf. Its best image quality is achieved at apertures f5.6 - f9, with a preference for f8, of course, under good lighting conditions. But even at f3.5 at 18mm, it does a very good job, with a little post-processing on the photo that will be taken if the lighting is not particularly helpful. On the scale of evaluation for general use lenses, with 10 being excellent and 0 being trash, I personally give it a 7.8, especially because I would have liked it to be faster in terms of aperture. But that would also make it more expensive.

The lens is intended for purely amateur use.
I wear it on the Canon 760D. I got it as an upgrade from the EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.
Honestly, I am amazed at how quiet and fast it is (compared to the 17-85), to the point that many times I think it's not working!
Its focal range will satisfy 99% of everyday amateur photography!
