Refugees came from everywhere. Around the deserted ancient Port, first gathered people from Hydra, Chios, Mani, Crete, then Thracians, Pontians, Islanders, Macedonians, Roumeliotes, Peloponnesians, Thessalians, Epirotes, and they created a new race, port people; the Piraeans.
