Very good razor, I started with Gillette which I didn't like because it required many repetitions to shave well, and after a week I switched to this one. With one stroke, the job is done, without ever needing to shave against the grain. The blades I tried fit perfectly. Irritations have almost disappeared. It's amazing for several days' growth, but even in 1-2 days, there's no issue at all. Just make sure to use soap because if you pass it on dry skin, it might cut a little if you're not careful. I recommend it even for beginners, once they learn a bit about the angles and as long as there is lubrication on the skin, there's no fear of cuts. I've been using it for about 5 months and I haven't noticed any issues with its finishing, as mentioned.
Without much experience in shaving, coming from a Gillette C king after a few months of use, the difference I saw is enormous.
I use the same feather blades for everyday shaving and the r41 provides a deeper shave with less effort.
It definitely requires attention as everyone mentions in its use, but it is something that is quickly accustomed to.
Very satisfied with the purchase
Very nice machine, I have nothing else to say, just that anyone new to the traditional shaving world can get it, like me for example. Just keep in mind that it requires attention, you will understand it by yourself with the first shave. Get it, it's really worth it and for the money it asks, it's a steal!!! For me.
Particularly aggressive but amazing machine. Definitely not for beginners but for more experienced users. It shaves almost against the grain while shaving with the direction!
Incredible shaving, even though I have very sensitive skin with many years of dryness, with a simple stroke I had results, no redness, no cuts, the main thing that requires attention is not to have dry skin for it to glide, if it finds a dry spot and you don't pay attention, you will definitely get cut. I combined it with a Big Ben razor to start.
Good machine. Extremely aggressive. (If you don't have the right technique, you will definitely cut yourself. But if you have developed the right technique, you will have an excellent and relatively fast shave (always with double passes). For example, compared to the Edwin Jagger DE89, and holding both razors at a 45-degree angle to the face, you have a cutting angle of 34 degrees on the Muhle and only 23 degrees on the Edwin Jagger DE89. In other words, it is a VERY AGGRESSIVE razor. Some people will like this, others will not. It is definitely suitable for those with sensitive skin because even with just one pass (without repeating in the same area of the face), you will achieve a decent shave. If you make another pass, you will achieve the perfect shave (always assuming that you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING). It is heavy, compact, and beautiful, BUT IT HAS ONE HUGE FLAW: The chrome plating comes off very easily and the razor takes on a corroded appearance, losing half of its beauty and elegance. Always make sure to wipe it very well after each shave and do not let it dry inside cabinets. Despite the extremely careful use I gave it, the chrome plating wore off, disappointing me with its quality.
Advice: Always shave with the correct angle, do not apply pressure with the razor, and let the weight of the machine do all the work.
So far, I have been using plastic razors (Gillette type) and for the past two months, I started using the Muhle R89, with which I am satisfied for regular shaving. But because I prefer to shave every week, I decided to get the R41. Initially, I was very afraid of it, as I read in user reviews that it is extremely aggressive and "for experienced users", but also in stores where I asked, they advised me to think twice before buying it.
Well, I had the best shave of my life!!!! I really can't understand how it is possible to achieve a deeper shave on a week's worth of beard with the first pass, compared to the R89 on the second pass!!!! Of course, the feeling of the blade on the skin is a bit chilling, but on the other hand, this feeling constantly reminds you to be careful, not to apply pressure, and to always maintain the head at the right angle. So, with two passes (and without any "against the grain" passes), I achieved an incredibly deep shave and furthermore, without any irritation or redness!!! I still can't understand why it shaves so deeply with such little effort. The only thing it requires is attention, not to press the razor and cut yourself. If you are focused, you will be rewarded with the result. There is no need to be afraid of it in any case. I didn't have the slightest problem.
In terms of construction quality, finish, etc., it is impeccable, just like the R89. I also used it with an iKON handle further away from the standard Rosegold (beautiful) and it became even easier to use.
