Higher class WiFi devices than simple wireless routers. I am using it in combination with UDM PRO and a UniFi switch. It requires some configuration, but it has a strong signal and, even though it is WiFi 5 and not 6, it provides a very fast connection.
The joy of every network installation but also of the demanding home user. Flawless operation without disconnections and delays. If the structured cabling is done correctly in the building, this specific device will solve the hands of every professional and will be a reliable and SAFE solution in the internet part. The mesh capability provides an unprecedented flexibility in covering large areas. Among the few products in my almost 25-year occupation in the field, it is so "pro-customer".
I bought it for the house, having really gotten frustrated with anything else I had tried.
It has been working perfectly for the last 3 years, only needing restarts for firmware updates.
Because some people write that the controller is necessary, that is not accurate. You can put the device in standalone mode and configure it with the smartphone app. You lose some features, but most users don't care about them.
Personally, because I got tired of setting up the controller, I had it as standalone for over 1 year without any issues.
Finally, I must say that it comes with plenty of accessories and it is a gem!
Installation is not simple. However, when the controller (the software) is set up, it is simply perfect.
- Strong signal that improves over time
- Awesome management system that you can access from the cloud, no need for port forwarding or upnp
- I set it up on Linux, which was a prerequisite for me
- I have added three more as bridges and extended my network to 3 floors with wired and wireless devices, everything now belongs to the same network and everything works smoothly without any problems
EDIT: After using it for a while. We're talking about stability. Also, I don't know how, but when you first add a client, it starts low and gradually increases...
The controller software is flawless and very stable on Fedora. Very satisfied.
It is good and so far it is stable (I tested it for 1 week 24/7 receiving from an IP camera full HD 2MP, 2 WLAN, plus anything else wireless). It is good in terms of speed, but you need to change the settings to connect devices that support 5GHz to 5GHz (by default, it will connect them to 2.4GHz). It took me about 45 minutes to set it up, but it was my first experience with Ubiquiti (much easier than a Mikrotik access point that took me 3 days...). I am not happy with the signal strength both in 2.4GHz and 5GHz. Compared to the Mikrotik RBwAPG-5HacT2HnD, which is 1m away, the Ubiquiti is -20dB lower, resulting in the connection speed being almost half at 30m compared to the Mikrotik. Overall, I think I would buy it again because it is easy to set up and stable.
In comparison to much more expensive ones like ruckus r300, r310, and even r510, I inform you that it has nothing to envy in terms of 100-150 users.
Keep in mind that these Ruckus APs are considered better and cost 300+.
The AP is worth its money, especially considering the user-friendliness of its management, which no Mikrotik, ruckus, etc. can match.
Perfect management program support and also very stable even under user load
