The Arduino 9 Axes Motion Shield is based on the Bosch Sensortec GmbH's BNO055 absolute orientation sensor. The BNO055 is a System in a Package (SiP), integrating a 14-bit 3D accelerometer, a 16-bit 3D gyroscope with a range of ±2000 degrees per second, a 3D geomagnetic sensor, and a 32-bit microcontroller running BSX3.0 FusionLib software.
The sensor provides data on 3D acceleration, tilt rate, and magnetic field intensity along 3 perpendicular axes. It also provides sensor fusion signals such as:
Additionally, it incorporates a smart interrupt engine, allowing trigger interruptions based on:
The shield is compatible with TinkerKit, meaning you can quickly create projects by connecting TinkerKit modules to the board.
Summary
Operating Voltage: 5V and 3.3V
Power Consumption: 50mW
Supply Capability
The Arduino 9 Axes Motion Shield does not have a power jack and is powered only when connected to an Arduino board.
Input and Output
The shield features several input/output and communication TinkerKit interfaces. Connecting TinkerKit modules can simplify the creation of a project or a prototype.
The board connectors are:
Physical Characteristics
The maximum length and width of the 9 Axes Motion Shield board are 2.7 and 2.1 inches respectively. Four screw holes allow the board to be attached to a surface or case. Note that the distance between digital pins 7 and 8 is 160 mil (0.16"), which is not a multiple of the 100 mil used for the other pins.
