The VideoMicro by Rode is a compact camera microphone featuring a cardioid condenser capsule for recording.
The VideoMicro reduces peripheral noise and focuses on the sound in front of the camera. The microphone body is made of aluminum, providing a high level of RF rejection, and has an external black ceramic coating to prevent sunlight reflection. The microphone is powered by connecting it to the camera (min. 3V), eliminating the need for a battery.
Additionally, the VideoMicro includes a Lyre shoe-mount that reduces unwanted vibrations and cable noise. It also comes with a WS9 wind shield made of synthetic fur with an internal foam layer, designed for outdoor use where wind and environmental noise can hinder recording.
Specifications are collected from official manufacturer websites. Please verify the specifications before proceeding with your final purchase. If you notice any problem you can report it here.
It is very good for its price, I use it in outdoor and indoor spaces on a Mirrorless camera.
It's amazing! I use it for videos on YouTube: O axtyphtos. I have also used it in documentaries and the sound was quite decent! Now I have the Sennheiser MK12 which is a big upgrade but I still use it! At €50, there's nothing better!
I am very satisfied with everything except that when I attach the hood for the air, it leans forward due to the weight and gets in front of the lens.
Improves sound quality significantly. It is definitely worth the money. To see how to use it on a mobile device, watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ewFw5icQ2e4
I use it in mysteries, it is worth its money and more, one downside it has only if you use the windscreen (deadcat) it leans forward from the weight.
For his money, he does a job. Not something crazy but okay.
Personally, it produces enough noise for me. I believe it can be better controlled with camera settings and a program like audacity.
I use it on Sony A7III. So far, everything is good. I haven't tested it blowing to see how it behaves there. For anyone who has this camera and is considering it, I would tell them to get it. With about 50€, you greatly improve the sound. From what I have read, it requires a different cable to be used on a mobile phone.
Quite good for its price. I recommend it to someone who doesn't need it for professional use. The only negative is that in sound editing, when you increase the volume, it produces some slight noise, but it's not a significant problem!
Significant improvement in sound at an affordable price. It is better to place it on a tripod or somewhere that does not capture camera vibrations if you are using autofocus. For recordings from a mobile phone, you will need an extra cable, DO NOT get it from ali, get the original one.
Fantastic microphone for its price. Its most well-known issue is that you have to be right in front of it to record properly. It's definitely worth it.
Very good microphone!
I shoot amateur movies and I have to say that it helps me a lot, especially in outdoor locations and with wind.
Very beautiful and high-quality construction, it easily attaches to my camera (Nikon D5600). What I liked most is that it doesn't have its own battery, so you don't have to worry if it has a battery and if it actually records.
The only thing that needs attention is to adjust the dB from the camera so that the sound doesn't distort and then you can't save it.
Despite the low price, it is a very good choice that I highly recommend
Very good and high-quality microphone, the only negative is that it has a slight tilt in front when you have the dead cat on and it touches the camera.
I have been the owner of the microphone for about three months. I believe it is worth its money (I bought it for €59.90). Its construction is very high-quality. It performs very well indoors. When used outdoors with the deadcat, the result is satisfactory and it performs much better than other microphones in the same category. Additionally, it comes with the cable needed to connect it to the camera and a stand.
Now let's move on to the negatives. The stand that comes with the microphone is not of good quality, and when the microphone is attached to it with the deadcat, it tilts forward due to its weight. It may also have some noise, but this can be solved through camera settings. Finally, if you want to mount the microphone on a tripod, you will need to get an adapter because the microphone's stand is 1/4'' while most tripods are 3/8'' like this one: [link]
It was a very good purchase and I would probably buy it again. I hope I helped.
I highly recommend it, it is very high quality and for the money, to tell you the truth, I expected much less. It only has one negative aspect, if you want to connect it to a mobile phone, you need to buy an extra adapter for ten to fifteen euros.
I am completely satisfied. I work at weddings: baptisms with the Sony a73. From the camera's microphone to the extra, the difference is significant.
Simply awesome, I have it for almost a year and it's almost perfect if you are in a closed space with a lot of noise, it changes the whole sound quality. I have it connected to the Canon 200d kit lens 18-55mm IS STM.
I have also done an unboxing here: https://youtu.be/8r8oOIFSSOI and used it in many videos as well as a microphone for a gameplay https://youtu.be/8m2EbtNCI_Q. Without hesitation, if you want a cheap solution from a pro with satisfactory sound quality for simple and maybe even professional use.
For the money, it's very good.
For those who complain that it has some noise, they should read the manual in order to adjust the camera properly and eliminate the noise. Additionally, the coiled cable functions as an antenna and amplifies the noise, so if it continues after the adjustments, changing it to a straight one will reduce it. Finally, different devices have different noise levels.
In the Canon 6D, there was a little noise that completely disappeared with the appropriate adjustment, in a tape recorder that I used, the sound is crystal clear and powerful without any adjustment.
For anyone who doesn't want to spend more money, it's a very good choice.
In an outdoor environment, the fur isolates the surrounding noises satisfactorily
POSITIVES
-Very high-quality construction with an aluminum body and ceramic black coating for scratch resistance
-Lightweight (42g), small (8cm), and very convenient as it is plug and play (no batteries/ no buttons)
-Good at recording directional sound while reducing background noise
-Clear and powerful sound
NEGATIVES
-If you have a noisy lens with autofocus and it can be heard when working from the camera's built-in microphone (like the Nikon 18-55mm kit lens on the D5200), unfortunately, it can also be heard from the Videomicro when it is mounted on the camera. However, this can be solved with an extension.
I have done an Unboxing-Test-Review on my channel here:
https://youtu.be/L-Y3Y1_uFsE
I have it here for a month and I have been very satisfied. It's worth its money and it does a very good job. At this price, I don't think there is any competition in terms of quality-price. I definitely recommend it as a first microphone, but whoever gets it must be very demanding in order to go for a more expensive product.
Suddenly, everyone became sound professionals and one annoys them and the other disappoints them. The microphone and its cable are of excellent quality construction, they don't break or malfunction with high-quality sound recording! However, all of this is for amateur use!! For someone who wants to maximize the sound quality in something amateur.. Neither the producer nor the professional will get it.. So don't expect miracles from a microphone priced below 50 euros! As for the microphone's stand, I put the useless elastic stand worth 2 euros against it.. Anyone who gets it should consider that it will need immediate replacement with a more serious one! If I were to buy again, maybe I would choose the GO.
The best for 53€.
Very clear sound!
Small size!
Also, because of this, I think it's called a dead cat (this fur), it has good quality even with a lot of wind!
I used it once, it worked perfectly and I noticed a great difference in sound. I left it on top of the camera all night and the next day when I tried it again, it only recorded static noise. I don't know if it's a general problem with the model or if I got a defective product. I waited for it for several days and I am very disappointed.
It is high-quality, with clean sound and definitely a big upgrade for any DSLR. Their built-in microphones are usually bad to terrible.
I saw a big difference in the clarity and directionality of the sound.
A big advantage is that it also includes a protective cover for the wind at this price.
Overall, a very good purchase for anyone interested in shooting videos with high-quality sound with their DSLR
It is absolutely logical that I cannot use it on a DSLR camera, but the connection with the computer is very good. However, I have a concern about the program I use, Magic Music. Other than that, it is a very good microphone
An incredible lightweight microphone with good build quality, and for the money, it has great sound... I think for a DSLR, don't get anything else... It doesn't have a battery, and it has CAT... I tested it with wind and it had no problem... I wanted to get the Rode Stereo VideoMic Pro which cost 185 euros, I tested both on the DSLR and the Rode VideoMicro Compact was better in terms of sound... You should get it without hesitation.
Amazing microphone for a camera... It is lightweight, sturdy, and does its job very well!!! I bought it to use with the OSMO, but ended up using it with my DSLR as well. I have released my previous microphone (also from RODE), not because it wasn't good, but because of its size.

Very good microphone. Especially in a lot of wind, it does a really good job. It's worth buying.
If you want it for simple use, it's just what you need! If you want it professionally, obviously not
