"Paths of Life" is a political autobiography, my personal testimony about the country's journey from the German Occupation, the Civil War, the fragile democracy, and the military dictatorship, to the post-dictatorship period and the establishment of democracy. It aims to contribute to forming a more complete picture of the period from the mid-1960s to 1996. It seeks to aid in the effort to overcome our shortcomings and authoritarian mentalities. It describes the quest for more freedom, social justice, and citizen autonomy.

The struggles, successes, and failures of that era revealed truths but also idealized situations. They concealed realities but also highlighted vulnerabilities. They raised questions about the causes and consequences of developments. Every testimony helps us better assess what happened. To learn from the past in order to effectively plan the future. This is the ambition of this book.
