These were my thoughts while working on this book with Makis Provatas, whose collaboration was sine qua non. Gradually, I convinced myself of the usefulness of such an endeavor. I was fortunate to live in an extremely interesting period for the history of Particle Physics and Cosmology, and through hard work, I managed to contribute to the progress of science and add a small stone to the better understanding of the Universe. My trajectory was "scientifically cosmopolitan" - "of many men he saw the cities and learned their minds" - and perhaps this experience might have some interest and usefulness for the reader. To see the true essence of science, unadorned and rough...

There were 43 two-hour, often three-hour, meetings of D.N. with M.P., in which everything about his life, his science, his thoughts, the arts, his tributes... Everything from the beginning: "My name is not Nanopoulos..."
