A life in a book? It's not possible... What to say first, what to leave out, how to convey to someone the indescribable joy and momentary happiness of a great success, but also the deep sorrow and sadness of a failure, whether personal or professional? And after all, why do it?
These were my thoughts while working on this book with Makis Provatas, whose collaboration was sine qua non. Gradually, I convinced myself of the usefulness of such an endeavor. I was fortunate to live in an extremely interesting period for the history of Particle Physics and Cosmology, and through hard work, I managed to contribute to the progress of science and add a small stone to the better understanding of the Universe. My trajectory was "scientifically cosmopolitan" - "of many men he saw the cities and learned their minds" - and perhaps this experience might have some interest and usefulness for the reader.
