Unfortunately, in less than six months and with minimal use, the coating broke and an entire piece came off! The only thing I had done was to boil a little vinegar with water to remove the salts. War dog!! Daily use for boiling water for cooking, for baby bottles, for removing grease from pans, etc. It doesn't understand anything; it never struggled to start or boil the water. After 2 years, there is no alteration in the material or color and no rust on the contacts at the bottom.
To prevent scale buildup inside, just get a water filter for €25 and attach it to your faucet, so you'll drink clean water and the kettle will never need rinsing with vinegar, baking soda, or other cleaners.
The only downside is that when you pour the boiling water into a hot pot, it releases hot steam from the spout that rises up and onto your hand, so you need to pull your hand back for a moment and pour as soon as you feel the heat has dissipated

In about 3 months, the lid closed and wouldn't open anymore. I thought about leaving it like that (since it still worked), but there was a component inside that was making noise. I purchased the kettle two years ago and couldn’t be happier. I use it on an almost daily basis and it works like the very first day. Even though I am not a big fan of its design it is durable, boils water quickly and the plastic handle does not heat up at all. All in all an excellent value for money purchase.
