I have been using this specific tool for almost two years at my job. I am a plumber and I mainly use it for drilling holes in bricks with 6-8-10-12mm drill bits and for screwing (e.g. pipe supports, etc.). The usage is not daily, but I work with it for two to three days a week and I don't put too much strain on it.

In terms of performance, it is very good. Very powerful, with a nice feel of the controls, impressively long battery life, well-balanced, and with excellent build and functionality.

Unfortunately, it has recently started to have reliability issues, as it occasionally slips in the second speed when put under slight strain. Specifically, the speed selector switch (1-2) does not stay in place properly when set to "2" and you have to hold it with your hand, otherwise it moves from its position.

After discussing with colleagues, I learned that they have experienced the exact same problem with other older Makita drills.

UPDATE 12/11/2017: Three and something years after the purchase, the second (fast) speed stopped working even if you hold the switch in place with your hand.... Now, it only works in the first (slow) speed. So it cannot be used for hammer drilling, only for screwing....

UPDATE 10/03/2018: A few days ago, the tool completely died... In both speeds... It's gone, it's dead.... Very disappointing... And I had a high regard for Makita....
