    I have a maintenance iron and it doesn't pass through most fabrics. The thread is very thick and easily breaks (although the breaking is not an issue because there is such a large hard point that you can cut the broken side with scissors and continue). As for the thread, it frays and leaves fibers between the teeth.

    For teeth with crowding, it is not suitable, as the thread is so thick that it does not pass through the teeth and/or causes bleeding.

    It is only recommended for sparse teeth with or without braces.

    Compared to similar threads (for prosthetic work and orthodontic devices), it may tend to "fray" more often. Other than that, it is definitely effective and does not unravel. It requires a small degree of familiarity in order to learn how to cut it in its hard section.
