Description

Classic choice with modern capabilities: a standard wide-angle lens loved by photojournalists for its natural perspective, low-light shooting capability, and exceptional optical performance.

Advantages:
  • Wide viewing angle with natural perspective
  • Top performance in low light and depth of field control
  • New standards in image quality
  • Fast and discreet focusing
  • Keep shooting even in challenging conditions
Detailed features:
  • Wide viewing angle with natural perspective
  • Classic, slightly wide-angle 35mm focal length preferred by documentary photographers for capturing subjects in their environment without perspective distortion.
  • Top performance in low light: The large maximum aperture of f/1.4 allows two stops more light compared to an f/2.8 zoom lens.
  • Shooting with a large aperture allows photographers to limit the depth of field.
  • The lens's nine-blade aperture renders out-of-focus areas smoothly and naturally.
  • New standards in image quality: Blue Spectrum Refractive optics address chromatic aberration by correcting color fringing.
  • Ultra-low dispersion (UD) optics and two aspherical lens elements provide unparalleled sharpness across the frame.
  • Subwavelength Structure Coating enhances contrast and protects against flare and ghosting when shooting in light.
  • Fast and discreet focusing: The ring-type USM autofocus motor allows you to focus quickly and almost silently.
  • Ability to switch to manual focus at any time.
  • Blue Spectrum Refractive (BR) optics address color fringing around objects in shots with large-diameter lenses.
  • Keep shooting even in challenging conditions: The build quality of Canon's L-series lenses offers greater durability.
  • Sealing components provide protection against dust and moisture.
Optical characteristics / specifications:
  • Viewing angle (horizontal, vertical, diagonal): 54°, 38°, 63°
  • Lens construction (elements/groups): 14/11
  • Number of diaphragm blades: 9

EXCELLENT lens. On a 550D, it performed very well at apertures of 1.8 and tighter, which it was tested at... On the R6, with the Canon adapter, words are unnecessary. The body-lens collaboration for autofocus was flawless, the images sharp, the color rendition nice, however, I wouldn't buy it for 2,300 that it's sold for, maybe at 1,500...
