I currently use it with a Nikon D3500. It is a bit heavy, but I mainly use it on a tripod so it doesn't bother me. The build quality is good, although the buttons on the side worry me a bit. As for image quality compared to the 70-300 kit lens, I noticed a difference in autofocus speed and sharpness. I was torn between the Sigma 150-600, the Nikkor 500mm f5.6 e PF (which I avoided due to its price), and this one. I ended up choosing this lens because of its fixed f5.6 aperture and its price, and so far it hasn't disappointed me.

    Update:
I now use the lens with a Nikon Z6II along with the FTZ II adapter. Compared to the D3500 that I used it with before, I noticed a difference mainly in the autofocus, which is now slightly faster. For its price, the lens is excellent. Nice colors, fast autofocus, good VR. Of course, more expensive lenses with wider apertures are better, but as I said, they are also more expensive. Next, for a beginner starting wildlife photography (I mention this genre because it's what I'm interested in) and wanting to move away from the 70-300 kit lens or a similar lens, and for an amateur photographer who doesn't want to spend a fortune on a good telephoto lens, I believe it is a very good choice and I don't think it will disappoint, despite the competition offering a wider focal length range.

The lens, in combination with the Nikon D500, performs flawlessly. Fast AF, very smooth bokeh, satisfactory build quality. Personally, I find it very easy to use (especially the zoom ring, which many reviews on YouTube mention as a disadvantage due to the increased rotation from 200mm to 500mm). Apart from its weight, which is expected for such a tool, and its price, which is also very reasonable for what you get, the lens has absolutely no drawbacks!

At this price, such an original lens, okay, it's a dream!! Heavy, but logical for its category!

Purchase on 06-11-2019 at 975 euros (!) on offer for a few hours from a major electronics chain.

    I'll start with the negatives:
-The lens hood is of mediocre quality and not very stable.
-The zoom lock switch seems somewhat sensitive to careless use. Of course, it's unlikely that you'll be walking around with the lens hanging from the camera, so the switch will be rarely used.

    Positives:
-Excellent clarity and sharpness. Personally, I don't see any drop in performance even at 500mm, where the lens slightly decreases in quality. Obviously, the loss of sharpness at the edges of the frame is insignificant when you stop the lens at 500mm. I should mention that when we read tests on the internet, we also find (if they exist) those that test the lens at greater distances. Check out the test on cameralabs.com and you'll understand why the lens is considered a step above its competitors.
-Very good stabilization (vibration reduction - VR).
-No coma, which is important for me as I use it at night.
-Autofocus is average for the category. With the focus limiter, which I consider essential for birds, sports, motor sports, etc., it improves dramatically and surpasses the Sigma and Tamron lenses I've worked with.
-Stable aperture at f/5.6, it doesn't change the exposure when zooming. Additionally, it maintains autofocus with a 1.4x converter (for now, I'm only considering a 2x converter for the moon or some planets).

Now, regarding the weight, it can be held by hand, but not for hours. The tripod mount also serves as a classic carrying handle.

At 1200-1300 euros, I believe it is the best choice in its category, even though the competition offers a greater range (150-600mm). That's all for now, I hope I helped.

Good construction if you exclude the hood, which is quite average and sensitive. Also, the in-out zoom is quite heavy and difficult to turn. It sharpens up to 400mm, but above that it starts to lose a bit and at 500mm is its weak point. Overall, a good lens is the only Nikon you can get with this money and with such a range!

He is very good for his money. Weight is not a problem, however for long hours of use it is good to have a monopod.

The product does not belong to me, but I had rented it to use it for a safari. It is amazing and I highly recommend it for such uses. The 5.6 is great when there is normal light. When it gets dark, it obviously falls a bit behind, but the lens is the best you can get, I believe.
