The Arduino Micro is the smallest board of the family, easy to integrate into embedded objects. It is based on the ATmega32U4 microcontroller with an integrated USB port, making it recognizable as a mouse or keyboard.
The Micro board has 20 digital inputs/outputs (of which 7 can be used as PWM outputs and 12 as analog inputs), a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, micro USB port, ICSP header, and a reset button. It contains everything needed to support the microcontroller. Simply connect it to a computer with a micro USB cable to get started.
The board’s format allows easy placement onto a breadboard. The Micro board is similar to the Arduino Leonardo since the ATmega32U4 has an integrated USB communication, eliminating the need for a secondary processor. This allows the Micro to appear on a connected computer as a mouse and keyboard, in addition to a virtual (CDC) serial/COM port.
In the “Getting Started” section, you can find all the information you need to set up your board, use the Arduino Software (IDE), and start experimenting with programming and electronics.
