It maintains compatibility with various older Apple accessories such as the super drive. It has good quality, but I have some reservations about its durability over time; many such Apple accessories start to "shed" over the years and the cable tends to break. Also, it requires the same care as all of Apple's white cables: never pull it by the cable, only by the plug.

I bought it for my MacBook. Initially, I had purchased the Satechi USB-C Docking Station with HDMI 4K PD Ethernet, which indeed has 3 USB ports along with Ethernet and HDMI, however, it heated up unbearably to the point where I was afraid of it and at the same time it drained the battery very quickly. The Apple adapter does not heat up at all and I leave it permanently connected to the laptop. Finally, due to the fact that it does not raise the temperature, it does not decrease the data transfer speed of the USB sticks.
