The game starts with the outbreak of a virus in the USA. New York City is deserted due to the quarantine, and chaos reigns in the streets. Then comes the moment for you and the rest of the secret agents/PS4 players/The Division to take action and save whatever is left standing. The missions involve seizing food warehouses, rescuing hostages, neutralizing criminals, gangs, etc.
I liked:
+ The post-apocalyptic setting and the overall atmosphere that makes you want to wander around frozen New York City for hours with your jacket on.
+ The detailed and beautiful graphics and the great sound. Overall, it's a well-designed and polished game.
+ The 3rd person combat system. Although it may seem complex at first with all the upgrades, if you pay attention, you'll get into it right away - (it reminded me a lot of the amazing game MASS EFFECT at this point, both in terms of gameplay and music!)
+ Open world game
+ The AI of the enemies.
+ You can easily team up with others and complete a mission together.
+ The affordable price.
I didn't like:
- It's mainly a game for those who love multiplayer.
- It would have been much more beautiful and immersive with some additional cutscenes (and maybe a female character).
- The complexity of the menu at the beginning.
- The difficulty of some enemies.
- It can only be played if you are connected to the internet, even in single-player mode, which sometimes leads to disconnections.
At first glance, I liked it a lot, although I've only played it for a few hours. It's an atmospheric game, and at first glance, it seems good. However, I will come back with a more detailed review with more specifics.
edit 1: I came back to change the rating to 5 stars because I saw that it's definitely worth its price. However, those who mention the dark zone (a restricted area within New York City where one player tries to kill another) are right. Nevertheless, I consider it a very commendable game. Graphics, story, gameplay are top-notch. Usually, when a game is criticized a bit and you realize that you actually like it more, you stick with it.
edit 2: After a month of gaming, I'm hooked, and I consider it one of the best games of the year, even though it's a bit complex and requires strategy. Personally, I can't get enough of playing this game.
edit 3: After a short break to finish the perfect RDD2, I picked it up again and played it extensively... for me, it was one of the best gaming experiences... I also went ahead and bought the sequel: The Division 2, which takes place in Washington.
