It is the most common type of network cable, and its lack of shielding makes it suitable mainly for household use and short distances. Category Cat.5e, the improved version of Cat.5 designed to reduce interference and support speeds up to 1000 Mbps (Gigabit Ethernet) at 100 MHz. It has no visual difference from Cat.5, but it has a significant difference as it greatly reduces crosstalk between communication channels. Due to its low cost, it is widely used for wired networks, even in VDSL connections up to 200 Mbps.
