Tex is one of the most famous Italian western comics and was created in 1948. The protagonist of the comic is the Texas ranger, Tex Willer, the daring and upright cowboy, the fearless, classic positive hero who defends the weak and the oppressed in the vast and desolate landscapes of the Wild West.

The model for the creation of Tex was the American actor Gary Cooper (1901 – 1961) and the setting of his stories was drawn from American western films, especially those of John Ford (1894 – 1973) starring John Wayne (1907 – 1979).

Tex, who surpasses 75 years of publishing life, holds a significant place in the pantheon of heroes because he is the longest-lived character in Italian comics and one of the most timeless heroes of comics worldwide.
