The region (now regional unit) of Pella undoubtedly holds a special place in Greece. Located in a border corner of the country, it possesses features (historical, geographical, touristic) that are rarely found all together in a single region. A brief mention is enough to certify this observation: the waterfalls in Edessa, the archaeological site of Pella, the thermal baths in Aridaia, the ski resort on Mount Voras, the artificial lake of Agra, and that of Vegoritida. The natural environment and the ecosystems of the region also present particular interest, while its surface and underground water "potential" is also significant. All these compose a unique landscape, which constantly invites you to enjoy it. Having been born, raised, and active for years in a city of this region, Skydra, I considered it important to conduct this research, aiming to present its demographic and population evolution from liberation to the present day. I believe that the reader of this book will form a comprehensive picture, and perhaps this study will serve as a catalyst for other, more detailed, works in the future.
