1) Open the "Quick Menu" and access "Settings" on the PS Portal.
2) Select the "Cloud Streaming (Beta)" button.
3) Select Cloud Streaming (Beta) (by default it will be disabled).
After enabling Cloud Streaming (Beta) in the settings menu, you should see a new option on the PS Portal Home screen that allows you to access games via cloud streaming. The beta option can be disabled at any time, and your Home screen will revert to the normal version once the option is disabled.

The Playstation Portal is essentially designed as a PS5 controller with a built-in screen. The build quality is excellent and the ergonomics are at a high level. All the buttons are easily accessible during use, and the addition of lighting is a nice touch to the design.
The touchscreen is LCD technology with an 8″ diagonal. Since the device is intended solely for streaming use, it does not contain computing mechanisms inside, making it particularly lightweight.

Remote Play:
To connect to the PS5, we need to have the device in standby mode so that as soon as we select the connection from the portal, it activates immediately. When I am on a shared network, the connection is smooth. Essentially, we have a mirroring of the PS5 screen on the portal screen, allowing us to play all the games stored on the PS5 directly on the portal. The gameplay progresses smoothly without lag or disconnections. Both the screen and the sound help ensure that we do not miss anything from the enjoyment of the game compared to the PS5. The haptic feedback of the portal is on the same level as that of the PS5 controller and immerses you into the game. This is what stands out for me about using the Playstation Portal. Before I got the portal, I had tried remote play on both mobile and tablet mainly to test if my network could support it. And since I played comfortably and particularly enjoyably, especially on the Tab S9 Ultra screen, what makes the portal worthwhile is that it immerses you in the game as if you were playing directly on the PS5. I connected to the PS5 from a different network and was positively impressed by both the connection speed and how smoothly I played, regardless of the game I tried. No lags, image distortions, or disconnections.
Cloud Gaming:
The addition of cloud gaming is what truly elevated the Playstation Portal to another level. Of course, a prerequisite is to have an active Playstation Plus subscription at the premium level, which is also the most expensive. It gives us access to a large catalog of games that is constantly updated. Thus, it is not mandatory to own a PS5 to play on the portal. Here, the user experience is excellent. Smooth gameplay, without distortions, with some slight lags that may appear but do not affect the experience. Another positive aspect of cloud gaming is that in games we play via the cloud but have stored on the PS5, progress transfers from one device to another.
Overall, using the Playstation Portal left me with very good impressions. Lightweight, it does not cause fatigue even after hours of use, with a bright screen, nice colors, and strong sound. With brightness and sound at medium and vibration and feedback at maximum, the battery comfortably lasts 6-7 hours.
The Playstation Portal is aimed at someone who doesn't find much space on their TV to play, so they can do it with the portal. However, now with cloud gaming, it also targets someone who wants to enter the world of Playstation without needing to spend the money required for the PS5 and wants to play both indoors and outdoors. With the hotspot, I will say it depends on where you are; I have been in places where my mobile (5g) mb were perfect and stable, resulting in me connecting the portal and truly enjoying a gaming session without any problems, perhaps even better than at home. However, it has also happened the exact opposite... As a general summary, I will say that yes, generally the portal is a device worth 220 euros, as it offers you the ability for portable gaming even if it is essentially streaming, at a very affordable price compared to other portable consoles, standalone yes, but very expensive. Until the last update, I wouldn't recommend it. I had major lag issues despite trying it on two different connections, in different areas and with different modems. Both connections were 100 Mbps. However, after the last update, the console finally became useful and proved its capabilities. The streaming is incredible and gaming becomes enjoyable. it's hard to play outside the house. you need settings on the ps and the router and to have a good network. with LTE (data) you can't play. you have crazy lag.
What it promises, it delivers. But. While the graphics are superb in PS4 games, in PS5 games, if you are used to TV resolutions, it's not enjoyable. I tried Horizon and Tsushima and they were terrible. However, Demon's Souls showed just fine. It will definitely be played for hunting on the go. But for a full AAA experience, it doesn't cut it. Better to use a television. I didn't experience any lag issues.
The device is amazing! Inside the house, the internet speed doesn't matter as it uses wifi, but outside the house, it needs to have a good and stable connection for uploading. Many people get confused and unfairly rate it because they don't know exactly how it works or have a bad connection. Don't expect it to work properly or without lag if you don't do the obvious things that apply everywhere. For example, I want to play in a spot in the house where I don't have a good wifi signal.
Very nice, I don't see any noticeable lag, very rare, almost non-existent. The only downside is that because it is remote play, it doesn't allow you to watch YouTube, Netflix, etc. Hopefully they will add this feature
It does what it says, it plays games remotely (in the same house or in any other house or even on the go with data and hotspot on the mobile) the games of the ps5. It only requires an ethernet cable on the ps5 and proper router setup for the ps5 and for the portal (when you are at home). Guides for this are available everywhere on the internet.

I borrowed it from a friend to see if I would buy it too. I didn't need to spend more than an hour to decide it's a very easy no. In a house with a 500mbps connection, the input lag is noticeable in the room where the modem is located and sometimes I see a little stuttering. In other rooms with the speedtest showing 160mbps, the input lag made the games unplayable, too much stuttering, frame drops, and the image quality constantly dropped noticeably. I also saw 2-3 times the notification that I was at risk of losing the connection with the PS5. For comparison, my phone in the same area streams 4K content from YouTube without difficulty. Also, I couldn't connect it to my own PS5 in any way with the conventional method. I had to reset and set up the device from scratch to make it work. Finally, at some point when I connected it to the PS5, I had the message "Remote Play Enabled" stuck on the screen and wouldn't go away at all. I suppose it's some kind of bug.
The specific product is a good option, but you should know that it is a streaming device and nothing else. It is not a console like the Switch. Let me write some things that bother me then, the LEDs it has, you can't dim the lighting like on the DualSense, only the option to turn it off, you really need good internet so it doesn't lag, I have 100 Mbps and sometimes it lags while my wife is watching Netflix! It's connected to a 5GHz router with full signal, but when I go to the kitchen to play, it drops to 2 bars and the lag starts! The battery is average. Mixed feelings about this product.
I changed some settings and saw very good results in image resolution and lag. The settings I changed were setting the resolution of the PS5 to 1080p, I had it on auto before, and disabling HDCP from the HDMI settings. Note that if you disable this, you won't be able to watch Netflix or any streaming service through the PS5, just enable it when you want to watch and you're good to go!!

The device is very comfortable, although not particularly lightweight. Especially if you put a case on it (recommended), the weight increases. Nevertheless, due to its ergonomic design, I consider it much more comfortable than the Switch (which I can directly compare).

In the same room as the router and it disconnects every 2 minutes, I tried to play NBA but the lag was so bad that I couldn't even score with a layup!! The build and screen quality are incredible, but for the job it's supposed to do, it's useless!! It's not worth the money if you can't use it for its intended purpose. Update: I tried it on a better connection and although there is still some lag, at least you can play soccer, but guys, it's impossible to play NBA. I still insist that it's not worth 200€... too many conditions to be able to play like a human.

As its name suggests, it is not a portable console, nor a standalone gadget in which you can play games. However, if you have good internet and are willing to make some compromises (playing with 60 fps frame rate on a good IPS screen), it is a good choice. Anyway, for this money, there is no portable console that can compete with it, the ones that exist are priced from 100 to 400 euros higher. 4/5 stars because I would expect it to have at least a basic standalone software that allows you to do basic browsing since it has a touchscreen.
1.) Well, this accessory, if you don't have a 5G router, you definitely need to buy one, so before you make a purchase, check your modem, otherwise you'll need to get a 5G modem as well.

3.) Somewhere I read on a well-known Greek forum that they criticized the portal for not being able to disable the console and not having a screen protector. They probably wrote the review without using the portal... don't believe it, you can easily disable the console and activate it from the portal as long as the PS5 is in rest mode... and as for screen protection, what protection does your handheld console provide? None, absolutely none...

The Portal is a device for streaming from the PS5. In order to play anything, you need to 1) have the PS5, 2) have the game on your console, 3) have the PS5 on at all times, and 4) be in a place with very good wifi (at least 30 Mbps at all times and a 5GHz connection).
My feelings about this device are mixed, no matter how much I tried to love it. First of all, let's clarify that the suggested retail price for the Sony PS Portal is €219 (or $200, but we always pay an extra fee in Europe), so don't fall for loan sharks and fake offers! At this price, the device you get is quite decent if you consider what you're getting. It has an excellent screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and good brightness (you can even play outside in the sun, but I don't recommend it). The speakers are very good for this type of console, and it is 1000 times more ergonomic than the Nintendo Switch. The strong point and essentially the selling point of the device is its easy and fast ability to stream directly from the PS5 to the device. Sometimes, due to children, relatives, or other reasons, you may not have the ability to use the TV. The Portal solves this problem by allowing you to transfer directly there. It is also ideal for a more relaxed game in bed before sleep.
However, you can find the same remote play feature in many other devices that you surely have at your disposal! You can use remote play with your mobile phone, especially if you have a device like the Backbone Controller, which provides all the tools for a very pleasant experience. The same can be done with a laptop, where connecting the DualSense controller gives you exactly the same capabilities or even more. The Portal does not have a regular touchpad, and the needs of the games are covered through a pseudo-touchpad that appears on the screen. This is based solely on software, but unfortunately, it does not work very well. Additionally, there is no ability to stream directly from Sony's cloud. Practically, this means that if you pay for the premium package for the PlayStation Network (which allows you to cloud stream all games), you cannot take advantage of it. Instead, you have to wait for the game to download on the PS5 in order to be able to play it on the Portal. Furthermore, there is no support for Bluetooth headphones from other companies! The device has a 3.5mm audio jack, but if you have chosen the path of wireless headphones, then you will have an issue. The only way is to wait for the new Sony Pulse wireless headphones to be released, priced at €219, or the new Pulse Elite headphones priced at €149! I should also mention the battery, which lasts for about 4 hours, performance-wise, it is mediocre. I should also mention that games with fast gameplay and high power requirements are not suitable for the Portal (Spider-Man 2), and even top games like Horizon Forbidden West, God of War, and The Last of Us run on the console without any problems (as long as there is good WiFi), but the drop in quality compared to the PS5 and a 4K TV is noticeable.
I understand that the portable console market is now saturated with plenty of options (Nintendo Switch, Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion, ASUS ROG ALLY, AYANEO), so Sony tried to minimize the risk as much as possible. HOWEVER, there are several missing features from the Portal that would have turned it from a console for a few into a must-buy. There is no internal storage, even just 500GB, to store games and play offline. You can't have multiple connected accounts, which is tragic for a device that is solely for remote play. Sony has shown what you can do with the controller in games like Astro, but the console comes with a 100% inefficient touchpad.
In conclusion, the console is aimed at people who are willing to spend €220 just for streaming, with good Wi-Fi. It's not convenient to switch between multiple profiles, so the device is more individualistic. It is an ergonomically designed device, with the same scandals you find in the DualSense. It has a very good screen and speakers, but it is completely useless if the PS5 is offline as you can't do anything. It's definitely not a must-buy for everyone and is aimed at collectors, parents, and people who reminisce about their experiences with the PSP and PS VITA. There are definitely cheaper solutions to experience remote play (simply by using your laptop and connecting the DualSense), so if you're not attracted to this device itself, there's no reason to buy it.
Update after 200+ hours of use:
The size of the Portal is about the same as two DualSense controllers placed side by side. In terms of ergonomics, I think it is the most comfortable device of all time, surpassing all portable devices from GameBoy to Lenovo Legion and everything in between. The pseudo-touchpad is the rectangular parallelogram in the photo. Also, the joysticks are slightly smaller than the DualSense's, without being uncomfortable, of course.
Regarding the battery, I managed to get 7 hours and 5 minutes from 100% to 0% before it shut down. Of course, to make it last that long, I turned off the sound, lowered the brightness to the minimum, turned off the auxiliary lighting of the controller, and the microphone's mute light was deactivated. The device was in a stable position with a good Wi-Fi signal, and the game was single player and offline. In short, under normal use, the battery will last 4.5-5.5 hours.
Since the Portal is purely a streaming device, it doesn't have settings for games (resolution or FPS). Therefore, if the game doesn't give you the ability to adjust them, you will have a noticeably worse experience compared to a 4K TV. The titles released by Sony's studios in recent years (Last of Us Part 1 + 2, God of War Ragnarok, Spider-Man 2) provide these capabilities. But in my opinion, you would miss out on a huge part of the experience if you choose the Portal over a TV. In my opinion, this is where Sony's biggest mistake lies. The Portal has many features that would make it ideal for games released in the early to mid-cycle of the PS4 (Nier Automata, Days Gone, Skyrim, Persona 5). We all now have a huge pile of shame with games we abandoned or never started, so this device would have been the perfect place for redemption. However, you don't have the ability to play games at 1080p resolution with 100+ FPS instead of 2K with 60 FPS or 4K with 30 FPS. Also, the Portal would be ideal for the games in the Classics Catalog (Ninja Gaiden, Ico, Heavenly Sword, Jax, Sly Cooper, etc.), but Sony does not allow you to download them on the PS5, only to stream them, and the Portal cannot play something that is not downloaded on the console.
Furthermore, in terms of the Portal and online gaming, unfortunately, the results are not pleasant. Personally, with a 200 Mbps connection, while playing Fall Guys, Mortal Kombat, and Tekken, I noticed that the lag is so bad that it doesn't allow you to play.
In conclusion, I believe that the 4 stars I initially gave are the most objective review for the Portal, which is a tool and not a console. I cannot blame those who consider the device bad, but neither can I blame those who love it. For me, it was a good idea with many prospects that remained unfinished.
P.S. The extent to which it is more value for money compared to the Steam Deck, Lenovo Legion, or Asus Rog Ally is relative. Yes, okay, the price of the Portal is 219, while for the first one it is 419 for the 256GB model or 569 for the good model, for the second one it is 899, and for the Asus it is 649 for the top model. BUT you get a complete console for 10 years. You need to have a good router with Wi-Fi 5G in order to avoid any problems and lag in games. You cannot play games through Cloud or watch streaming services like YouTube, Netflix, etc. because the device is purely for gaming at the moment. I don't know if there will be any future upgrades that will allow you to do other things. The build quality is very good, it is quite lightweight, and overall it is a device that, in my opinion, you should have in case you don't have a second TV or monitor.
